Our therapists have specialized clinical training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and exposure and response prevention for OCD.
We work with individuals of all ages with anxiety, mood and related issues across the lifespan. When working with younger children, we meet with parents without the child for the first evaluation session, and then meet with the child individually during the second evaluation session. Our center also routinely works with college-aged and young adult clients. Here, our therapists incorporate components of therapy geared specifically to this age group: identity development, fostering independence and autonomy, and helping clients navigate the challenges experienced during their transition into adulthood.

I specialize helping individuals recover from eating disorders, body image dissatisfaction, addictive exercise and related mental health concerns such as trauma, OCD, anxiety and depression.
Healing immensely personal, often secret and shameful struggles with body hate, bingeing, purging, restricting, and other related behaviors takes courage and commitment. You may want to change, or have begun the recovery process, but also feel ambivalent and fearful about how and what it means to recover. If this resonates, you are not alone. Recovery is possible and finding peace with food, mind, and body is worth the arduous journey-whether this is your first attempt at treatment or you have completed multiple treatments. I also help caregivers in their role supporting a loved one with an eating disorder.

Anxiety is a life-sucker and can be extremely crippling. It can interfere with your ability to stay present, be productive, maintain relationships, and can rob you of happiness. Maybe you've become homebound, can't go to sleep without checking off a list of items over and over or get so caught up in your thinking that you feel paralyzed to make any decisions. Perhaps your anxiety is compounded with ADHD and life seems like a true slog to get anything accomplished. You’ve seen therapists, but with each failed intervention attempt, you only become more certain that it’s hopeless. You cannot give up, there's another way forward.

Are you using unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with your anxiety and/or depression? Increasingly, the pressures of life, complicated relationships, traumatic events which are or feel beyond our control are leading us to problematic emotional states. Frequently, negative emotions such as shame, anger or hatred, or envy and jealousy, link to negative self-talk, dictating our feelings, thoughts and actions. I find it is usually helpful to apply a holistic approach, working with the mind/body connection which counsels attention to the present moment rather than dwelling in the past or obsessing about the future.

Making the decision to make a change and begin therapy is often filled with various emotions ranging from excitement and joy to fear and anxiety. In addition, navigating which therapist to choose in a fallen world can be confusing and frustrating. Like you, I faced adversity in my life and decided to make a change. By God's love and grace, I have been able to heal from my past, make changes, and live a life filled with meaning and purpose in serving Jesus. I believe you can not give what you do not have. For this reason, I am here to be a vessel for God to work. My hope is God will do for you what he has done for me.

If you are reading this, then some part of you is ready. Perhaps ready to move on, to understand more or to do things differently. Our problems, when given our attention, often become gateways for needed change. Trust yourself and start talking. Therapy is something you do when you care about yourself and your life. Although current evidence-based treatments are the foundation of my work I value a mind-body connection and offer a holistic and integrative approach to therapy.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
