I am a Christian therapist, and I work with individuals, couples, and families. I spent years as the mental health supervisor for Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge, and now I work with adults and adolescents who are grieving, healing from trauma and PTSD, going through role transitions, and trying to understand how they can find fulfillment through value-based living. I see mental health from a holistic framework that incorporates both emotional and spiritual wellbeing. I have a deep understanding of how addiction and mental health correlate, and I also work with those recovering from spiritual trauma or living with anxiety.

Trauma based approach, PTSD, Christian Counseling, EMDR, DBT, and CBT offered. As you begin your search for a therapist, please remember to put yourself first and trust that you are worth it! Sometimes it can be easy to bypass ourselves and continue to put others first only to find emptiness staring back at us in the mirror. Let’s work together to find out who you really are and start “showing up” for yourself like you do others. Let’s build confidence and motivation to meet your goals and finally feel at peace in life again. One step at a time remembering that you are not alone in this journey.

While my religious convictions are deeply important to me and I believe that spiritual integration can bring about some of the most profound healing, I remain open to working with people outside of the Christian faith.
Currently, I am working with adults and couples with varying concerns including: grief and loss, depression, anxiety, PTSD and trauma, addiction and substance use, sexual addiction and integrity, faith and spirituality, chronic health issues, OCD and scrupulosity, and relational and family issues.

I also enjoy incorporating a Christian faith-based approach for those who desire it.
You deserve to be heard—this is your space to be unapologetically you. I believe you aren’t broken, and therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about creating a space where you can feel truly seen, heard, and understood. My mission is to provide a safe, compassionate environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or big transitions in life, I’m here to help you on your journey. Together, we’ll unpack the challenges you’re facing, work through the pain, and create a path toward healing and growth.

My passion lies in understanding how trauma shapes our lives and using evidence-based techniques to help individuals heal and thrive. With a foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I offer a specialized focus on how trauma impacts our mental and emotional well-being. Through CBT, I work collaboratively with clients to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that stem from past experiences. Outwardly your life appears good. You’re accomplished, educated, and successful. You’ve mastered the art of presentation, the illusion of perfection. But inside, you aren’t happy, never feeling good enough with that internal voice reminding you where you fall short. You are irritable, flat, tearful and hanging on by a thread. Recently, it's gotten worse. The years of keeping it together have left you exhausted, overwhelmed, stressed, and not even recognizing yourself. Feeling disappointed, disillusioned and dissatisfied, you’re desperate for a change. Should you get divorced, change careers, or drive away in the middle of the night?

I hold that every person is worthy of a safe, unbiased, and productive opportunity to process their experiences. In a world that is increasingly unpredictable and overwhelming, we all carry experiences that challenge our sense of control, disrupt our connections with others, and distance us from ourselves. I came into therapy wanting to serve marginalized communities. Especially, people of color within the GLBTQIA community, partnerships and families of all forms, 1st/2nd generation of immigrants, and the relationship between spirituality and queerness.

Are you dealing with a lot of stress in your life? Are you often feeling overwhelmed? Do negative thoughts bug you down but you don't know how to get out of it? Is your energy gone, and you feel you barely can get things done in a day? Would you rather stay in bed and sleep the day away? Would you sometimes like to have an on or off switch for feelings or your thoughts? Do you feel no purpose and lost some hope? Does anxiety sometimes take over and hinder you to do the things you would like to do? Are you struggling in relationships with others? Do you feel lonely? Does your past keep you from moving forward?

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
