I am committed to creating a non-judgmental and compassionate environment where you can feel safe to share your thoughts and emotions. Together, we will work towards developing coping mechanisms and strategies that can help you manage your mental health needs and improve your overall well-being. In therapy, I utilize a combination of evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness techniques. These approaches are tailored to your individual needs and can help you gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as develop healthier patterns.

Are you feeling lost, stuck, or overwhelmed? Is it difficult to get motivated or know what your purpose or plan is in life? Are you struggling in school, your career or relationships? Maybe you're wondering if you'll make it through one more semester, ever find a career you enjoy, or have healthy relationships. Sometimes life can feel like too much and it's easy to get overwhelmed and lost in the sea of decisions and expectations, especially in a world like we’re facing today. It's also possible for things to be different.

Humans often endure complicated transitions and unexpected challenges while learning to navigate the world. I especially enjoy working with people during dynamic times of life like middle school, high school, and college. I also specialize in work with creative individuals and artists. Clients are warmly accepted in my practice for who they are today. I help clients better understand their brain and their body's responses. My goal is to provide a stable environment that is both supportive and challenging. Together, we explore what that person values, where they want to go, what they would like to change, and who they want to become.

I have been working in the field of psychology for 20+ years. When people ask why I do the work I do, I usually respond, "because people are always interesting." I enjoy the process of getting to know someone's story and helping them to work towards understanding and change.

As a refugee Hmong woman, my lived experiences navigating cultural and social pressures deeply inform my work in creating authentic narratives of healing that include challenging systems of oppression and injustices.
Are you overwhelmed with navigating pressures from family, culture and society? Is it hard to find someone who can understand the intersections of your identity and life experiences? My BIPOC clients often tell me about the emotional fatigue of trying to find a provider who can understand their complex narratives. They want tools that respect their heritage and cultural wisdom. If you see yourself in any of these struggles, I invite you to schedule a free consultation with me to reclaim and rewrite your story.

I specialize in deep processing therapy for those living in chronic survival mode and with unresolved reactivity. I am an advanced practitioner of the groundbreaking new trauma treatment, Deep Brain Reorienting. DBR uniquely addresses core wounds, the pain of traumatic disconnection, and complex trauma. These are the types of wounds that create immense suffering, are quite complex, and require specialized, skilled treatment to heal. When core wounds are left unaddressed, therapy often becomes a process of management and effort.

You always seem to lose the tug-of-war between your needs and the needs of others. The idea of setting boundaries at work and home feels more like a distant dream than a doable plan. Every day begins with great intentions, but by the time the sun sets, the demands of others have overwhelmed you. People have told you to take time for yourself, but It's hard to imagine what you would do for fun (if you ever had time for fun again). It doesn’t help that your inner voice has become a relentless critic, and your burnout has reached a point where doing a small task feels like climbing a mountain.

Hi! I am open-minded, curious, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I believe in community and reaching out to others for support. Having raised three young adults, I am drawn to conversations about life transition, identity and career exploration, relationships, trauma, anxiety, depression, and mental health issues affecting young adults and adults of all ages. I seek to listen to and support adults in their process of healing and self-exploration. As a cis-gendered, white woman who has lived in many different communities around the US, I continue to strive to learn about others’ culture and experiences with humility and curiosity.

Our adolescent and childhood years are filled with a lot of social and emotional learning. This is a time where we learn who we are, how to handle life changes and the intricacies of peer relationships. I provide a warm and safe space that allows young people to feel seen, heard and respected. I also recognize and value the participation of families in the therapeutic process and welcome parents/guardians into session to strengthen relationships (when this makes sense for the client).

Work with adolescents and their families is where my passion lies. I understand and believe that the system a person is operating in can impact all parts of one's life experience. I believe it is important in therapy to meet you where you are at and explore where you want to go. Creating a path to becoming your most authentic self is one of the most rewarding and challenging acts you can do. I am honored to be a part of your process.

I have the awesome privilege of getting to work with teens, families, adults and therapists all day long. I often meet teens who are uncomfortable with the idea of going to therapy. If your teen works with me, I will work closely with them to ensure that therapy with me isn't uncomfortable. I read teens well & will work hard to help your teen have a positive therapy experience. Teens are accepted in my practice for who they are in the world & they have told me that this acceptance is helpful to them during a time of intense growth & change.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
