I offer a strengths-based, collaborative and non-judgmental approach to relational work.
We can often find ourselves struggling to feel understood by each other. I meet with adult individuals or couples seeking help and encouragement as they navigate their relationships. Issues around communicating needs, conflict in their partnership, parenting, intercultural relationships, dynamics within family of origin or in-laws, work/life balance and couples that identify as LGBTQIA+ are all areas I'm familiar working with. I invite clients to create and practice new tools to better understand one another and emerge out bickering and into a collaboration.

Therapy can help you learn how to live in the present, make peace with the past and create a rich and meaningful future. You are ready to get unstuck and feel more alive, connected and engaged. Perhaps you find yourself coping in ways that are no longer working for you. Together we can understand how to help you create a greater sense of purpose, joy, and fulfillment. Therapy can be a transformative process and feeling safe, understood, and connected are essential factors. I have the honor of working with people experiencing a wide variety of concerns including: depression; anxiety; grief/loss; life transitions; chronic illness; postpartum depression; sexual abuse; relationship problems; low self-esteem; family of origin; stress and more. My relational approach is based on the belief that within the framework of a trusting relationship with a therapist, clients can explore patterns of behavior and emotions which may relate back to earlier relationships. Once a better understanding of the origins of these patterns is developed, people often find lasting freedom from their hold over their lives.

And as a relational therapist, I believe relationships are foundational to our lives (family, friends, coworkers, ourselves) - often the cause of life’s struggles, relationships also are paths to creating greater happiness.
I am inspired and humbled by the stories of people's lives - and I'm here to help when life gets challenging. If you're in the midst of a life transition or are feeling directionless - we can explore purpose. If life seems too hectic or feels increasingly hopeless - we'll work together to identify the underlying issue and explore solutions. If it feels like you and your teenager are stuck or if the relationship between your spouse/partner is a source of stress - we can work on communication. When you’re feeling overwhelmed and aren't sure how things can change, I can help.

Psychotherapy is something that happens between people...you and me. It is a process that I expertly and sensitively guide, but it is something that we experience together. Relationships, past and present, may be a source of pain, frustration, or fear...but they are also the key to unlocking your full potential. Together, we will work to alleviate your most pressing problems as well as to develop a fuller understanding of the deeper, underlying issues that keep you stuck in emotional and relational patterns that limit your capacity to more fully give and receive love.

Area of improvements may include addressing: medical or chronic health condition, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, irritability and anger, relational issues, peer/ relational issues and increasing coping skills.
Accepting new in office and telehealth clients, late afternoon availability for scheduling. Mental health care is a part of chronic healthcare and asking for help can be the hardest place to start. Mental health is a struggle that we all deal with in our own way, sometimes we need guidance and encouragement. I believe a therapist's role is to support individuals in their efforts to cope and adapt on their own. Through the journey of therapy, I want to be someone who can point out patterns that may be hindering you from reaching your fullest potential.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
