My clinical work is attachment-based and trauma-informed, focusing on child and adolescent populations.
As a systemic therapist, I think of people kind of like nesting dolls: we all go through life as the little one in the middle, whole and independent, yet undeniably we are nestled in larger contextual structures. I will meet you with compassion, humor, and non-judgment in the therapy space, holding your whole picture in mind as we work together to integrate the realities of your context with the realities of your heart. All parts of you are welcomed and held. I am a queer-identifying provider and enjoy supporting clients in navigating their own identities.

A mirror allows us to see ourselves, however, sometimes this mirror can be distorted by our unhelpful thinking patterns and difficult experiences that have shaped the way we see the world. I believe therapy can provide a less distorted mirror to see ourselves more accurately in order to make the changes we want to make to live a healthier, happier life.

I use a variety of modalities and theories, tailoring each to fit client needs. I practice with a trauma focused, strength based, person-centered approach and believe the client is the most intricate part of the therapeutic process. I have a background and interest in working with individuals who struggle with complex trauma, personality disorders, ADHD, attachment issues, and PTSD. I am socially informed and knowledgeable on the community and societal issues experienced by BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals. In my free time I enjoy traveling the world, propagating plants, spending time in nature, and playing with my animals.

Hey there! Glad to see you here! I describe myself as a warm, client-centered, trauma informed therapist. My clients are champions of their own lives- they are interested and driven by many goals but with a common thread being interested in how they can look at themselves and others in a different light. As your therapist, you can expect me to bring flexibility, humor, empathy, curiosity, and honesty to sessions as we walk together. Whether its a space to work through life challenges, finding meaning through transitions, or a place for you to be witnessed and "be"- we get to be in whatever process you're in and honor it!

Are you not feeling quite right, and maybe not even sure why? Is it hard to be around others (partners, family, friends) and perhaps even be alone with yourself? Being misunderstood is exhausting. Working collaboratively with you, I would like to understand your personal experiences and problems so that we can work toward a life that is more meaningful and less distressing.

Current openings for telehealth only. I use a holistic and eclectic approach in therapy because I believe our mind, body, and environment impact our well-being. I want to truly learn about the life experience and driving forces for each person I work with. I specialize in relationships and trauma- childhood neglect or abuse, a family member’s death, high stress jobs (health care, first responders), infidelity and conflict, or abrupt ends or changes in relationships. My goal is not to tell you how to live your life or what to do with your relationships, it's to support you as you find a life that's fulfilling and meaningful to you.

I am a firm believer that understanding how health concerns & physical symptoms can show up hand in hand with mental health is very valuable. I believe that the better you understand how your body & mind interact, the more ability you will have to manage the symptoms of both. I offer general therapy but have a special focus on Trauma, Narrative & Mind Body connection. My background in medicine also helps in educating individuals with chronic illness about how their mental health is impacted by their illness & vice versa. My time in EMS can aid in working with individuals from the military, emergency services & medical personnel.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
