Are you feeling uncertain and stuck? When terrible events or experiences happen in our lives, trauma is the emotional response that happens in our bodies. This could be a physical trauma such as a car accident, rape, physical abuse, or a natural disaster. There is also emotional trauma can be caused by emotional abuse, humiliation, and even grief. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This therapy is one of the most effective ways to treat trauma as it engages both sides of the brain and allows the trauma memory to be properly processed in the body.

Many come to therapy knowing only that they are struggling to get things done, their relationships have become a source of stress rather than comfort, or they need help processing trauma, loss, or other painful experiences impacting their daily lives. Whatever your circumstances, I strive to help each person or family I work with achieve greater emotional, psychological, and social well-being, while also alleviating symptoms. I use the power of storytelling and understand that each person I work with has many, important stories to tell. I also value and work with each person's nervous system in the healing process.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, grief, stress management, and adjustment to life changes.
We all need a helping hand at times, and I have had a passion for helping people for as long as I can remember. You want to feel happier, less anxious, and do more than just “get through each day”. You deserve a safe space to discover who you truly are, and uncover what is keeping you from experiencing more joy, contentment and ease in your life. When we sit down together and discuss all that you’ve been through we will also discover your many inner strengths, and together we can build on the resiliency within you. I want you to see all that you are capable of - all the things that you can do to help yourself be happier.

I value the institution of marriage. Marriage is foundational to the well being of each family member. The marital sub-system is the most important system in the Family System. If the marital sub-system fails all the other Family systems fail. I tell couples one of the things they need, to build longevity into their marriage is to love the institution of marriage just a little bit more then they love each other. I seek to get to know the couple by taking a "dating & courtship" history. Then I want to know "why now" why did you make the appointment.

I enjoy working with female clients who possess a unique set of characteristics, challenges, and aspirations shaped by their profession and life experiences. Perhaps you frequently encounter high-stress situations and traumatic events, which can lead to emotional strain, burnout, and post-traumatic stress. Or, you encounter physical demands including irregular hours & physical exertion, that can lead to fatigue and health concerns. Balancing a demanding career with personal and family life can be particularly challenging. You are more susceptible to mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression and stress.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
