Usually, the thing that brings us to therapy has us feeling stuck. We might feel paralyzed with indecision as parts of our internal selves compete with one another for attention. We might experience recurring conflict with people we care about. We might feel that our identity - our internal self-knowing - is somehow being prevented from fully expressing itself because of messages we receive from family or society. Most often, the reason we seek therapy is some combination of the above, and as a result of our “stuckness” we may feel sadness, despair, anxiety, anger, or an unnerving lack of feeling altogether.

I have helped many families over the last decade of my practice learn authentic communication and develop compassion with boundaries that can help teens feel heard and accepted.
I specialize in treating adolescents and young adults with behavioral and relationship issues related to anxiety, depression or mood disorder. Teens nowadays are confronted with stressors and challenges that previous generations did not face and as such require unique understanding and approach.

I help people remember how awesome they truly are. Prior to entering private practice, I spent three years at a leading treatment center where I worked with a variety of people in a variety of unique circumstances. I am passionate about working with clients to improve their sense of self-compassion, and well-being, and transcend maladapted beliefs. My practice and work is inspired by the work of Gabor Mate, Richard Schwartz, and Buddhist Psychology. I am a Master's level pre-mental health licensure professional with experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders.

When my clients takes the first step towards healing, they are often unsure about what they want, what they will talk about, or how they will ever get there. Taking that first step to get help is commendable. As a Mayo Clinic trained clinician, I am here to support them on their journey to a happier, healthier life. Those who see me most often are adults with mood disorders, anxiety, OCD, or stress. I also specialize in teens struggling with Anxiety, OCD, and Depression and men who are navigating areas of stress in their roles, relationships, and/or career. Together, we build a foundation for lasting emotional growth and well-being.

How many times have you wanted to just quit everything? Maybe you're burnt out, profoundly anxious, or crumbling under all the pressure you've put on your shoulders. Maybe you felt like things weren't working for a while, but you told yourself that you should hold out a little longer in case it all changes. Or maybe you've been piling on promises and now there's too much going on to even know where to begin. And maybe you've heard more than once in your life that you "really need to chill." If that sounds like you, I'm glad you're here.

I enjoy supporting families facing parenting challenges, as well as the unique gifts and experiences of parenting children with special needs. I also enjoy working with adolescents and young adults who are struggling with life transitions, managing relationships, school concerns, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, I have significant experience working with individuals in the adoption triad, as well as those considering or in the midst of the adoption process, and following placement transition. It is common for families to experience increased stress, grief, and challenges related to trauma and attachment.

Do experiences from the past keep coming back to haunt you? Are you stuck and find that your past still impacts your mood, sleep, health, and behaviors well after the experience? Maybe you recreate harmful patterns and are troubled by emotions and memories from an experience long ago. The past not only impacts you but those around you. Some many find themselves angry and irritable and others use substances to numb their pain or engage in behaviors that you know will hurt you, your relationship, or your family in the long run. Despite everything you have tried, you cannot find peace.

Therapy is a process that works to resolve unhealthy or problematic thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, relational patterns, and/or emotions. It is a process that starts by gathering information and dives into understanding the different pieces of your story and how they work together. The pieces, or themes and events, of your story, the characters encountered, the obstacles faced, and the meaning(s) made from experiences play a role in how you understand self and self in relation to others. It's my privilege to come along side you on your journey and to help sort out those pieces.
