I help men and women handle breakups or relationship difficulties, cope with being single, navigate dating, create healthy relationships, manage anger/ frustration, deal with depression, explore adoptee issues, and adapt to change or loss. I serve families with children who are pushing boundaries, fighting with or blaming others, worrying excessively, yelling/talking back, lacking appropriate social skills or have poor self-esteem. Immediate evenings and weekend availability! Most of us are looking for peace, wellness, and a connection to others and and at times in our lives those things can feel so far away. Whether it be a recent loss, move, health diagnosis or child’s behavior, these changes can make us feel overwhelmed and disconnected. Through our time together I am confident you will be able to identify ways to navigate these changes and feel better. The therapeutic relationship is important and I intend to co-create a space that is comfortable and judgment free so that growth can happen. We might paint together or drink tea while we meet.

You’re probably on this page because you’re looking for change - maybe you’re stressed out, maybe you’re not feeling like yourself, or perhaps there’s a thought or two that you just can’t seem to shake. Fortunately, you’re already moving forward - as they say, action is the only solution to despair! Your challenges are unique but so are your strengths. I want to help you feel empowered, supported, and active as you work towards meaningful and lasting changes. I am fiercely optimistic about how therapy can help those willing to put in the work. Vulnerability and self-reflection can be difficult but the reward is incredible!

Have you been feeling dissatisfied or discouraged in your day-to-day life? Do you feel like what you are doing falls short of what you want to accomplish? This can be pretty demoralizing, and it is not uncommon to keep doing what you are doing in the hopes that things will change or get better. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Hoping for change is not enough for most people, and while there is comfort in knowing what to expect, it doesn’t get you any closer to the life that you deserve. You deserve to be healthy, happy, and fulfilled in all areas of your life. Together, we can get you in a place to make that happen.

It's nice to finally meet you! If you're here, you're probably looking to make a change. I can help you remove the barriers in your life by building a strong sense of self, finding direction, and connecting with what's most important to you. With curiosity and humor, I create a safe space for you to explore these issues and find solutions. I am not a behaviorist. I will support you in making the changes you want to make, but I do not use worksheets or assign homework.

Is your child or adolescent struggling? Maybe a recent divorce, life transition, or addiction in the family has brought out some behaviors that are concerning to you. While I also work with couples, my primary focus is kids and teenagers that need some support or help working through a traumatic event. Often children show symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma differently than adults do, but noticing a behavioral change in your child and getting them support right away can make all the difference.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
