EMDR is a powerful tool to help minimize the negative thoughts, feelings, and beliefs around trauma, anxiety, panic, depression, addiction, self-worth, relational issues, and more.
Available to work with any individual or couple in Minnesota, I approach therapy with a deeply empathetic and a client-centered focus. My interests lie in assisting individuals struggling with trauma & grief, anxiety & depression, and life transitions. When neglected, these issues can snowball into more problems that can alter your daily functioning. You may find you've been experiencing disordered eating, relational issues, sexual health changes, diminished self worth, and/or sleep disorders. I also work with couples dealing with infidelity, infertility, sexless marriage, power dynamics, unmet needs, and ruptured communication.

I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles as well as have specialized training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a trauma-based therapy approach.
Are you a teen or young adult looking for someone to connect to who will listen, empathize, and provide non-judgmental feedback? Are you someone who struggles with emotional expression, anger, and thinks therapy is "not for you"? Are you adjusting to college life and need a bit of support through the transition? Or are you a parent of a teen or young adult concerned about any or all of the above? I can help.

I work with clients of all ages and with symptoms related, but not limited to trauma, anxiety, depression, and sexuality.
I believe that each individual frames their life from their experiences. Such experiences can cause distress, sometimes making life unbearable. I invite clients in the direction of the unconscious mental process to create healing and promote change. With wholeheartedness and non-judgemental support, I offer a deep journey in search of keys to unveil the answers that lie within. I help clients to find insight, and cope with the underlying causes of emotional and psychological symptoms. I suppose that it is through telling one's unique story, that one can re-write it.

My clients cope with difficult and/or abusive relationships, past and present traumatic situations, grief, loss, depression, anxiety and difficult life experiences.
I work with those who have experienced trauma and the troubling symptoms that arise from it. Struggles with relationships, a lack of motivation, and difficulties in navigating daily life can arise when past or present traumatic events get in the way. As a trauma-informed therapist and an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) clinician, I can help you understand why you may feel hopeless, sad or anxious by gently examining and processing troubling life events together. To begin, I offer a free 30-minute consultation. We’ll talk about what it would be like to work together and determine if we would be a good fit.

When it comes to trauma, I don't believe you need to even fully remember it to heal from it.
If you're here because your past traumas are creeping up on you, what you show the world doesn't align with what's on the inside, or your anxiety/depression has depleted you---I want to work with you. You might be someone who has a hard time asking for help, so the fact that you're even thinking about getting it is a big step. Sometimes, we just need a therapist to guide us along our path to feeling better. I want you to feel equipped to handle life’s ever-changing ups and downs, and to be able to do it with a sense of purpose, stability, and self-awareness.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
