Getting help from a therapist can be a difficult step -- finding someone you can relate to, who understands, and who provides help in a straightforward, positive way is so important. I am warm, nurturing, and direct. I strongly believe in the importance of our relationship: I help you to establish goals, and we work together toward achieving these goals. I provide practical advice and assistance in handling the issues of daily life, and with addressing and healing from the struggle and pain of the past.

Looking to start or continue your healing journey? Feeling stuck and guilty prioritizing yourself? From the outside, you look composed and professional. You excel at your job, balance your home life, and maintain relationships. On the inside, you struggle with stress, self-doubt, and the fear of not being good enough. You feel empty and hopeless that you’ll ever find energy again. You numb by turning to mindless habits, like scrolling TikTok or Instagram for hours. Small irritations lead to not feeling good enough. Resentment creeps in. It’s exhausting. You feel like you're just existing, not really living the life you want.

Many people are finding life more difficult these days. There is often so much to deal with in our personal lives, add the impact of world events and it can all just be too much. Having someone to listen and support you can make a big difference in coping with your struggles and not feeling alone. I’ve never met anyone that doesn’t like being listened to and understood. My focus in therapy is to help you get relief from your pain and explore ways to cope with life’s ongoing challenges.

You deserve to live the life that you want, however, this may difficult sometimes. Feelings of depression, anxiety and PTSD may be the result of past trauma, hurt and other unforeseen circumstances. Because of those experiences, the thought of seeking assistance (therapy) scary and overwhelming. I know exactly how you might be feeling, the fear of being judged, shamed or misunderstood can be frightening.

I respect your decision to seek out therapy as I believe finding the right fit in a therapist is a difficult task. I believe it is through in-depth therapy that people can learn to tolerate difficult feelings, deepen develop a sense of inner calm, and find insight into life-long patterns. My work is informed by women’s studies, sociology, studio art, Argentine dance, and psychoanalytic therapy. I understand that mental health is a complex intersection of many factors in life. I work collaboratively within these intersections to create a therapeutic relationship to help individuals develop a deeper understanding of their lives.

My journey to becoming a mental health provider developed out of curiosity about how the body and mind works. After pursuing a degree in social work from the University of North Dakota and working in a variety of clinical settings including social services, hospitals, outpatient and inpatient facilities, and private practice, I began to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of individualized care for each person. This has allowed me to create a safe space for clients in navigating their own mental health journeys.

I specialize in forensic (legal) evaluations. I most often work with individuals involved in some aspect of the legal system. Though my specialty is the assessment of men and women accused or convicted of sexual offenses, I also have broad-based experience in competency and diminished capacity evaluations, assessment of mentally ill and dangerous persons, and violence risk assessment. I also do trial consultation for the military. Most of my referrals come from the courts and attorneys, though I encourage potential clients to contact me to discuss my services.

Dissatisfied with yourself, relationships, or career? Looking for true change and healing? Tried the brain-body based interventions of EMDR or Brainspotting? Life not playing fair? Worry and anxiety robbing you? Having panic attacks on the regular? Life can be painful, frustrating, and overwhelming when it is not going well. There is a magic that can happen in psychotherapy when you commit to working on yourself, your personal growth, and your healing. We may not all get charmed lives, but we all deserve to feel better. You can feel better if you do the work. You do not need to navigate life alone.

You’re tired of feeling like thoughts about food and your body dictate how you spend your day. It feels like you cannot escape the voice in your head that tells you that you are not thin enough, you ate too much, and the most important thing about you is the way you look. The truth is, your body is not the problem - It never was. Our culture is structured to make us fit inside narrow constructs that oppress who we are. We will work toward body liberation. Body liberation is the freedom from social and political systems of oppression that designate certain bodies as more worthy, healthy, and desirable than others.

Are you going through a tough transition, dealing with loss, or trying to understand your identity? I've faced these same challenges, as an Army Brat who moved schools frequently, and as a first-generation college graduate. I bring this perspective into my practice with children and their families. I emphasize authenticity and self-esteem, using approaches like experiential play therapy and EMDR. But my main focus is creating a comfortable, relatable therapeutic space. When I'm not working, I enjoy time with my pets, gaming, anime, and kayak fishing.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Fulton, Minneapolis?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
