I often work from a relational lens as I believe that our past and current interpersonal experiences have a significant influence in shaping how we see ourselves and the world, and are often at the root of a lot of our pain and distress.
My goal as a therapist is to genuinely connect with and support clients in their journey. It is a privilege to walk with others on their path towards healing and knowing themselves. I strive to make sure my clients feel seen and heard as their true selves, experience warmth and security in the counseling room, and know that I unconditionally accept them. I believe therapy should be a true partnership between myself and my client; we are a team working toward your desired healing, growth, and change. I am committed to providing a safe and inviting atmosphere for all people, identities, and needs.

I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental atmosphere for clients to explore their relationships, values, strengths, and changes they would like to make. I strongly believe that everyone is capable of persevering through life's challenges and making positive change, if given the proper tools and resources. I emphasize building upon underlying resilience I believe every person has, through education, skills, and evidence-based approaches. I am a direct communicator but have a casual approach, emphasize compassion, and appreciate humor in sessions.

You want to be seen, and wonder if you’ll ever be enough. Do better, try harder, don’t give up. The pressure of always trying to be your best is overwhelming. Annoyed, sad, and worried. You’re only human; sometimes you can’t keep up. You feel like you’ve failed. Critical thoughts preoccupy your day. Small mistakes feel big, rejection feels inevitable, and the struggle to prove yourself exhausts you. All you want is to be seen and accepted by others. You wonder if you are the only one. Logic tells you no, but emotions seem to be stronger.

People come into therapy because they want something to change in their lives--how they feel, how they relate to others, how they handle stress. I enjoy working with people who want to commit to working in therapy; who have the courage to face the important issues; who want to work collaboratively with me to find the solutions to feeling better. I consider myself a guide and coach in this process as we get to know each other. It gives me great joy to watch my clients grow, change and start to enjoy life again.

Not accepting new clients
I utilize person-centered, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and interpersonal process theory in session.
As a therapist, I believe that authenticity and the therapeutic relationship are invaluable. I believe that therapy will not work if there is not a strong therapeutic alliance. I tend to be a laid back, compassionate clinician who values humor in session, but I am also not afraid to challenge you and be direct. I believe each individual is unique, therefore I do not believe there is one set way to do therapy. I value meeting individuals where they are at and learning about their strengths to help them in session. I work with adults ages 18+.

I combine Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Sensorimotor psychotherapy (a somatic based therapy) to support people impacted by life transitions, depression, anxiety, effects of past trauma, and challenges within interpersonal relationships.
Accepting new clients. Feeling stuck in your thoughts? Maybe you have trouble finding joy in day-to-day life or you find yourself spending more time worrying than not. In my work, I help people understand their symptoms, learn what might have gotten them here, and help them find a path to feeling better. I do this by using my knowledge of the brain and body to empower people to build self compassion, change their thought and behavior patterns, and build a balanced life.

I incorporate the latest in neuroscience research and pull from relational psychotherapy, mindfulness, psychodynamic, interpersonal neurobiology and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
Life is difficult. Feeling better is possible. We all have the right and the ability to feel some peace and acceptance about our lives; the things we can control and the things we can not. We may often believe the negative thoughts we have (that we often make up) and act accordingly. You can change your life, your outlook and the way you think and feel about yourself and your relationships. I believe changes and growth occur when an individual is able to challenge their thoughts, examine their perspectives and learn how to be true to themselves.

As a counseling psychologist, the majority of my work is focused on helping individuals negotiate the emotional setbacks they encounter throughout their lives. Feeling disconnected from ourselves and others, individuals can easily become depressed, anxious, or feel broken. My work in individual therapy centers on helping my clients to reconnect to stronger parts of themselves. I utilize an integrative approach that combines the science of psychology with interpersonal warmth, acceptance and understanding.

I offer an interpersonal, warm, person-centered approach that helps one feels safe and comfortable.
Life is hard and often not fair at times. We seek therapy to feel heard, validated and find ways to move through our pain. I work with a broad range of individuals, couple's and families. My passion is helping those with relational issues, developmental trauma, substance use as well as eating disorders. I will work with individuals (13+). I love working with transplants as I understand the complexities of moving to another part of the country and not knowing the culture. My goal is to help you find yourself, that internal voice that tells you, "you are worthy, you are enough."

Interpersonal Therapists

Is interpersonal therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found interpersonal therapy to be effective for life transitions including retirement, divorce, and job loss. Also, some studies have found it to be just as useful as medication and other therapy approaches. The benefits of interpersonal therapy can last long after treatment has been completed; the individual can use the tenets of this therapy throughout their life.

How long does interpersonal therapy take?

Interpersonal psychotherapy is normally time-limited and focuses on specific problems in the client’s everyday relationships. Treatment can be either one-on-one or take place in a group setting; it tends to last 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the individual client’s needs. If a new interpersonal problem arises in the future, the client may require additional therapy to address it specifically. The timeline and session schedule may vary depending on the client’s challenges as well as their progress. Treatment may conclude with wrap-up sessions to review the client’s accomplishments.

Is interpersonal therapy effective?

Research shows that interpersonal therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of conditions such as depression or anxiety. The approach may also offer a range of benefits that are hard to measure but valuable—including healthier relationships and improved feelings of self-worth. The therapist will give the client practical solutions that can be put into practice. The brief duration of this therapy also means that clients can see changes in their relationships fairly quickly.

What are the limitations of interpersonal therapy?

Interpersonal therapy may not effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as psychosis, chronic illness, or alcohol relapse. Because it is short-term in nature, it may not be the best approach for conditions that need to be tracked, though maintenance sessions are a viable approach under these circumstances.

Can interpersonal psychotherapy be done online?

Yes, interpersonal psychotherapy can be conducted effectively either in-person or online. A therapist with expertise in IPT will be able to adjust their techniques, such as role-playing, to better suit the online environment. Offering online IPT can make it more accessible for clients who have transportation difficulties; it also provides the ideal opportunity to explore challenges unique to digital relationships.
