I have worked with children and adults with autism, ADHD, anger issues, self-harm, loss, relationship struggles, behavioral problems, and parenting.
Immediate morning openings available. Life can be hard and when it is, you may feel alone but you don't have to. Have you or your child felt anxious, overwhelmed, sad, hopeless, or angry? Have you wondered where all of these feelings come from? Do you or your child have trouble concentrating on one thing at a time? Do you ever wonder what is happening to your child? Or, do you just want to talk to someone who will listen? If you have answered yes to any of these questions: I can help you. I create a safe space to work through all of those feelings.

Additional clinical interests and competencies include: Depression, Anxiety and related diagnoses, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, adoption, parenting skills, and working with families with non-neuro-typical children.
Life can be hard. You may worry too much. Maybe you have difficulty finding the energy to do what you need to do. Or saying things that you regret later. Maybe you have trouble concentrating and focusing. And sometimes the hopes and dreams you have for the future don't always turn out the way you expected. When these things happen, you may forget how to draw on your strengths and capabilities to make things different for yourself. I can help you rediscover strengths as well as develop new, effective strategies for bringing back your joy for living and having deeper, more meaningful relationships.

I especially like working with people who are trying therapy for the first time, folks working through adult attention deficit issues and people ending or thinking about ending a relationship.
When life is changing there is a place at the end, at the beginning or in-between. Are you thinking about what comes next? It takes courage to go there. Together, we will address where you are and where you want to be. Check out my profile on the Caspersen Therapy Center Website: https:www.caspersentherapycenter.com/about-us

Regardless of what you're facing, be it relationship challenges, anxiety, life transition, grief and loss, depression, emotional and behavior concerns, ADHD, or trauma, seeing a therapist can be an incredibly cathartic and transformative experience.
When we reach our lowest point, a supportive hand can be a tremendously helpful thing. That is the heart and soul of the work I aim to provide. With each passing year, we learn more about the vital effects intimate relationships, social bonds, and life meaning have upon our personal health and wellness. A sense of fulfilling connection with those who are precious to us often leads to significant improvements in the various parts of the human experience.

I have experience working with issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, family/relationship conflict, life transitions, and ADHD.
As humans we are constantly trying to build connection with others and make meaning of the things going on around us. Sometimes that can be difficult, have unexpected challenges, or feel overwhelming. I work with clients to explore/understand life's challenges and/or build deeper and more genuine connections. I also work with them to improve their overall psychological, emotional and physical health. My goal is always to help clients build confidence in their ability to cope with challenges on their own. I believe in creating a safe therapeutic environment that fosters vulnerability, acceptance, hope and connection.

I have over a decade of experience as a Psychotherapist, helping clients recover from trauma, manage ADHD, anxious and depressive symptoms, deconstruct their faith systems, reduce destructive behavioral patterns, sort through charged memories, and deal with their complicated in-laws. I have an eclectic approach, and I specialize in utilizing EMDR, IFS, and CBT frameworks. I truly believe everything is connected, both internally and externally. Thus, it is imperative to account for the 'whole person' in order for therapy to be effective. I also think it's important to laugh once in a while.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
