I believe the client and therapist relationship is important in the therapeutic process, along with each client's individual story and how this has impacted his or her life.
My therapeutic philosophy comes from my personal belief in the importance of positive human connection. When we experience positive human connection with others and ourselves, we gain joy, growth and confidence. We all experience difficult times in our lives in which we may need additional support, as well as a safe place to explore and better understand what we are experiencing and going through. My hope for you is that you take a brave step and seek the support you deserve.

Four words represent the heart of my counseling focus while working with adults and couples for over 25 years. These words are: Hurts, Habits, Home and Heaven. 1) HURTS are past or recent wounds that a person needs help and healing from; 2) HABITS are repetitive and unwanted emotions, thoughts and activities that control a person; 3) HOME represents our most important relationships between partners, spouses and friends, but where confusion, conflict and disconnection can occur; and 4) HEAVEN represents the importance of one's faith in God for finding love, direction, and assurance that we matter in this life and beyond.

I believe that life throws "curve balls" that can be challenging to navigate. Therapy is a place to explore how these challenges impact us, those we care about, and how we can move forward with what we value in our lives. I believe that each of us is the expert of our lives and we are empowered to make healthy decisions for ourselves. I would like to help you through the more difficult times in your journey, creating a safe place for you to be open, explore, and grow as an individual or couple.

My counseling philosophy seeks to find the root of issues, rather than only focusing on managing surface-level symptoms. I incorporate positive psychology, Attachment theory, Family Systems, and Jungian analysis- including a focus on Personality Types, as identified by the Myers-Briggs (MBTI). I believe change occurs in therapy when the client is able to identify the things that are holding them back or distracting them from finding fulfillment in developing their true self. My work as a therapist is to partner with you on your journey toward wholeness as a safe, consistent, trustworthy listener and helper.

I work with individuals, couples and families, (adolescents, adults, medicare seniors and persons with disabilities) who feel disconnected from themselves, their emotions, their relationships, bodies, life purpose, or higher power. This may be because of an addiction, a personality disorder, relationship distress, a developmental or neurological disorder, depression, anxiety or a host of other issues. We work together to imagine and create integration.I am passionate about helping people create personal health and well-being for themselves and in their relationships, however they define this.

I believe therapy is best approached within a therapy relationship that is warm, affirming, empathic and understanding.
Many of us struggle with anxiety, stress, and trouble sleeping. We can find ourselves facing difficult life changes and transitions, experiencing difficult relationships, work problems, or issues related to aging and loss. It seems easy these days to feel anxious, discouraged and uncertain about the future. If you are experiencing any of the above concerns, therapy could help. Effective therapy can equip clients with the skills, self-confidence and resilience they can apply effectively to their present situation and also in the future when issues arise.

Working with me, my clients learn to identify and understand relationship patterns, improve communication skills, address unhealthy coping behaviors, feel calm in the face of conflict, create intimacy, learn tools to open up and enhance their overall confidence.
I help men and the conflict-avoidant transform their relationships. My clients feel so angry they could explode or so defeated they are shutting down completely. In relationships they often hear themselves saying things like: “I don’t know how it got here,” “Things weren’t perfect but I didn’t think it was this bad,” and “I’ve tried so hard but nothing seems to work.” Their inner messages often sound like: “I just feel numb,” “I get so afraid to do anything, whatever I do will be wrong,” and “I can never get it right, so I just give up and be quiet.”

During times of difficulty, sometimes we need someone to talk to that is open-minded and non-judgmental. Someone who can be a supportive person that also helps build insight and supports us in reaching our goals. My goal is to build a relationship where clients feel seen, heard, and supported. This approach includes creating a partnership between therapist and client, where the client determines the focus of therapy and works collaboratively to identify attainable goals. During our work together, we can explore your reasons for seeking therapy and build a relationship where you feel supported.

I am an empathetic, down-to-earth person who has gone through many experiences being a single mother, divorcee, business owner, teacher, musician, relationship partner, and adventurer of life.
I believe everyone has a story or many stories that they believe about themselves. Some of these stories may or may not serve people in their lives -but all have a powerful effect on how we walk in the world. Using integrative, cognitive-behavioral, and narrative therapy, I help clients redefine their beliefs about themselves, or how other people or situations affect their lives. I guide clients to recreate the stories that can help them initiate change, and reinforce the stories that already give them strength and clarity.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
