We know how important it is to have options when you decide to reach out for support. As a group of clinicians invested in your wellbeing, we provide individual and group counseling to adults, children (ages 4+), families, and couples. Because we cannot determine when life stressors or increasing mental health concerns will occur, you may be able to be seen the same day of your call.

Are you or a loved one struggling with substance use, addictive behaviors, or hoarding? Does your environment reflect the chaos you feel inside? Sometimes people get stuck in patterns and behaviors we don't want, and we don't know how or can't move forward in spite of our best efforts. We often berate ourselves for our behaviors or for not being able to help someone we love. You might feel frustrated, defeated, scared or stuck. Maybe you don’t even know where to begin.

To bring my best expertise to our work together, I've dedicated a career (and a whole lot of bookshelf space) towards cultivating a deep and specialized understanding of the experiences of trauma, anxiety, postpartum, and grief. During this ongoing time of uncertainty and finding new normals, you may notice a decline in your mental health. You may find yourself wanting someone to process with. You may be seeking a calm in the storm. I can help.

I use emotionally focused techniques to bring primary emotions to the surface, narrative therapy to process the messages we tell ourselves, and IFS techniques to normalize and work around protective parts of the self.
I work with individual adults (18+). As an MFT I often take a relational approach even in individual sessions as external factors often play a role in mental health. I work with most diagnoses other than addictions.

I use Eye Movement Desensitization (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) guided by the neurobiology of human development and trauma to tailor our work to your strengths and needs.
Ever felt that it’s overwhelming to try and fit the pieces of your life together? Maybe you’ve been working on the puzzle for a while but the picture isn’t matching the one on the box, or life knocked the puzzle off the table and left you to pick up the pieces, or you’ve used all the pieces but the picture isn’t complete. When this happens, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or ill-prepared for the ups and downs of daily life. Wherever you are wanting to feel more put together, it can be frustrating and exhausting to keep trying when your efforts aren’t having the impact you would want.

I have specialized training in: grief and bereavement, anxiety, depression, forgiveness, sensorimotor training, trauma informed, mind/body practices, meditation, somatic experiencing, polyvagal theory and internal family systems.
We can be kind, strong, intelligent, and resourceful individuals and still there will be times when we need other people to support us, that’s just how we’re built. Acknowledging that vulnerability and asking for what we need is true wisdom. I honor and respect that in you. Every person is a unique expression of life, our work together supports you in embodying an authentic way of living. I deeply respect the painful things that bring people to seek support, as thresholds that offer the potential for healing, connection and purpose, and work to cultivate that optimism while also honoring the suffering that leads to such transitions

My work draws on concepts from Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness that focus on understanding how emotions show up in our bodies, gaining insight into the impact of our past on our present, and reintegrating past parts of ourselves that have been hurt.
If you are struggling with perfectionism, feeling torn, understanding yourself, or being compassionate to yourself, reach out! Therapy can be an incredible place to bring who we are: our strengths, supports, complexities, fears, vulnerability, and experiences. My goal is to foster a space where you can notice what you are feeling and process your hurt while learning to be more compassionate to yourself.

As a therapist and witness to your growth, I believe that you have an intuitive and innate capacity for balance. However, ongoing stressors of living in intersecting systems of oppression erode our connection with ourselves and others. Through curious, compassionate awareness in supportive relationships and community, we find our way back to our inner wisdom and wellness. I am here to support and witness your process of uncovering your most authentic self so that you can take actions in your life that align with your values and dreams. Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
