Healing isn't just about alleviating symptoms; it's about fostering growth, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose. My practice primarily focuses on providing therapy to individuals who are facing symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief and loss, stress, and trauma. I provide support to adolescents and adults struggling with self-esteem, family and peer relationship issues, co-dependency, family conflict, and life transitions. Additionally, I am fully trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to support clients in healing symptoms of trauma.

I have been in the counseling and psychology field for the past 20 years. I know that it is difficult to ask for help. However, people sometimes need additional support beyond their family and friends. I work with, adults and adolescents that experience low self-esteem, relationship problems, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, addiction, trauma, and have trouble regulating their emotions. If you are a parent looking for services for your child, I am a registered play therapist and I will work with your child to resolve fears, worries, sadness, and build healthy esteem and assist you in providing on-going support to your child.

Ever feel like your emotions are running the show? Maybe you struggle with intense anger, overwhelming sadness, or crippling anxiety. Perhaps past experiences from your childhood are influencing how you show up in your relationships with friends, family, and partners. You've been in therapy before, and while it sometimes feels helpful to talk to someone, you still feel like life is a constant battle. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone! Many people experience emotional dysregulation and don't find the relief they are looking for in traditional therapy alone. The good news is, there IS hope, and there are more options!

Immediate Openings. Are you feeling down, anxious, angry or unhappy? My philosophy is that "Life is too short" and for all the bad there is just as much good. Therapy helps one to start finding the good in life and making the necessary changes for that to happen. It is about learning new skills and trying on new ways of living. I feel that as a therapist I become a coach, cheerleader, supporter and confidant. You have already taken the hardest step and that is to admit that there is a problem and to seek help. I look forward to the Journey.

At some point in life, nearly all of us feel something is out of balance. This can cause significant distress and be emotionally painful. In an atmosphere of acceptance and trust, we'll explore where it hurts, what is out of balance, and the root causes of emotional distress such as anxiety, depression, grief, and suffering. We’ll work together to address your symptoms, gain deeper awareness and understanding about yourself, and find greater meaning in your life. Just as our physical body has an innate propensity towards growth and healing, I believe we have an innate potential towards emotional growth and healing within us as well.

Do you fear no one will understand you? In situations longer than you should be? Struggling with the complexities of grief or major life transitions? I work with adolescents, teens, and adults to help heal their self-worth wounds before their potential harmful coping skills manifest into lifelong struggles, and help folks rewrite their story once they understand that the only person that needs to understand them is themselves.

Not all grief is related to loss of a loved one, but all loss needs to be identified and validated.
I specialize in helping clients who are experiencing grief/loss, depression and anxiety to create sustainable self-care practices. I believe the integration of emotional, physical and spiritual health must be addressed in order to move toward healing.

My work explores all mental health with a focus on traumatic grief and loss.
“..Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars” -Martin Luther King, Jr. It may be a dark time in your life or you may be unable to see your own goodness buried deep inside. Possibly you just want to explore what makes you happy and alive. There are so many reasons to seek out counseling and it is because of those reasons I became a therapist. I'm naturally curious about human nature. That, along with my knowledge of mind and body, neuroscience of the brain, and over 20 years of therapy experience, I can help you find the answers you are searching for.

Much of my training has been geared toward developing a competency in working with complicated grief, traumatic loss and chronic and acute trauma/PTSD.
My experience working with a diverse population of families, couples and individuals of all ages has led me to adopt and practice with a relational, client-centered and strengths-based approach. This follows my observations that individuals have internalized resources, wisdom and capacity for resilience that are often unrecognized or repressed. Strengthening those parts of the self provide the most enduring and transformative healing experiences. I also believe a critical component of my work with clients is helping them understand the brain/body connection, and how to utilize this understanding to manage symptoms and responses.

I have over 20 years experience in a variety of settings and specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and Christian counseling.
Trauma leaves us feeling broken, damaged, and disconnected from our true selves. You may feel like no one understands you; isolated from friends and family because they aren’t experiencing the same thing, or cut off from your faith because this feels so hard. You might not even remember a time when you didn’t feel this way, but you are absolutely certain it’s time for a change. You’re ready to step out of the shadow of feeling anxious and overwhelmed and back into the light, out from under the weight of your anxiety and depression. Most of all, you’re ready to find a renewed sense of purpose and meaning in your life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
