We utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a powerful approach proven to help people develop healthy coping skills and build healthier relationships.
Ever feel like your emotions are running the show? Maybe you struggle with intense anger, overwhelming sadness, or crippling anxiety. Perhaps past experiences from your childhood are influencing how you show up in your relationships with friends, family, and partners. You've been in therapy before, and while it sometimes feels helpful to talk to someone, you still feel like life is a constant battle. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone! Many people experience emotional dysregulation and don't find the relief they are looking for in traditional therapy alone. The good news is, there IS hope, and there are more options!

You may wonder if anyone really knows how you feel as you hide behind a smile, a laugh, your grades or with food. You might be someone who feels alone and carries old narratives that you aren't good enough and maybe even have thoughts that you are inherently bad. These emotions and thoughts can be all consuming which can take you out of your life and cause you to engage in isolation, numbing behaviors, disordered eating, and/or people pleasing.

I have specialized training in many therapeutic practices: career counseling and assessment; cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia; mind-body skill work; dialectical behavior therapy; prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapies for PTSD; and cognitive behavior therapy.
Many people struggle with symptoms of depression, anxiety or insomnia. Others have difficulty in relationships, are dissatisfied with work or face serious health challenges. And many others struggle to adapt to life changes, or simply feel discouraged or unhappy. I work collaboratively with my clients to target the issues most challenging to them and use evidence-based approaches to improve those problems. I believe that developing a strong relationship with my clients provides the essential base from which sustainable change can be achieved. I am PsyPact certified and can practice telepsychology in those states.

I've practiced Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for 11 years.
When was the last time you had a good laugh? Or felt like your brain was calm? Or felt really confident that you were running your own life; not your anxiety, or obsessive thoughts, or big emotions. If it feels like it's been a while since you could actually enjoy life, then maybe it's a good thing you're here. Therapy can seem like a really serious thing to jump into. It is! It doesn't need to feel that way though. It's possible to do hard things, face the fears and anxieties that keep you stuck, and grow into the person you want to be. You can do all of that, and it can even be fun. Enjoyable. Something you look forward to.

I have found teaching DBT skills (dialectical behavior therapy) is helpful for those seeking new coping skills and use EMDR when working through trauma with someone.
Therapy is a sacred, safe and healing space for one to engage in self-exploration and acceptance without judgment, criticism or guilt. I am passionate about working with individuals, couples and families and believe that having authentic and meaningful relationships are core to becoming & staying healthy individuals. I have 10 years of experience working with people struggling with disordered eating, anxiety, depression, trauma & all the different issues people face from age 12 and up. My goal is to help people find and use their voice, face their fears, and be honest with themselves.

While DBT and trauma-informed CBT will be primary interventions, I also incorporate motivational interviewing and systems therapy.
Life and change is hard and sometimes and it can lead us to our lowest point. I acknowledge that you are the expert in your life, and I am an expert in guiding you through your most vulnerable and painful moments while challenging you to expand your skills to assist you in creating the change you want to see in your life. Therapy helps you learn how your own mind works and create the change you are looking for in your life. Have you ever wondered " why am I like this" or " why do I react this way"? Then we should talk! Im here to support you in finding happiness and stability again.

I most often combine relational talk therapy, with a coaching approach, then I sprinkle in some awesome techniques, Parts Work and then also add in some CBT or DBT.
Do you feel like a part of you is stuck, stale or stagnant with anxiety, depression or stress and you are a child, teenager or an adult? Is trauma a factor in your life that needs to dealt with and processed? Are you feeling sad or angry from a death, from a divorce, from a break up, or from caregiving and just need to process all that has happened? Therapy can help you be aware, calmer, have more healing, discernment, more authenticity, more ease, less negativity, better boundaries, less triggered, better self care, more vulnerability, and healthier connections. Therapy can help you be a better version of yourself!

An ideal client is one who is open to the transformative potential of therapy. In our sessions, I apply systems theory to illuminate how the societal and personal systems we navigate contribute to mental and internal strain, distancing us from our authentic selves. My integrative approach combines advanced modalities, including mindfulness-based interventions, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), polyvagal theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and attachment theory. This comprehensive blend empowers individuals to heal deep-seated wounds and unlock their inner potential.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
