I have training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Prepare/Enrich, an evidence-based tool for helping couples prepare for marriage and improve their relationships.
I work with a wide variety of clients and mental health concerns, and especially enjoy supporting adults and couples looking to improve communication and satisfaction in their relationships. I believe that therapy can help people find new, positive ways of connecting and increasing their sense of support and resiliency. In addition to relationship work, I help people going through life transitions in all stages of life. I particularly like working with adults in middle age and beyond navigating an empty nest, balancing care for children and aging parents, or those moving into retirement and exploring their identity outside of work.

I'm trained in the Gottman Method (level 3), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (externship level) and IFS.
Are you frustrated with your marriage or committed relationship? Are you and your spouse or partner arguing frequently? Maybe you feel really disconnected from your partner and you're exhausted trying to get through to them. Or maybe you're overwhelmed parents and can't find the time for each other anymore. We all want to feel heard and respected in our marriages and partnerships. Conflict is normal, but unhealthy patterns of fighting over the same thing over and over is not. I help couples figure out a better way to get through to one another. I can help you both feel more connected.

In my work with couples, I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy (level three trained) and attachment-based interventions (EFT).
You are feeling alone and overwhelmed. You are anxious and the negative thoughts in your head are becoming louder and more difficult to control. Your sleep is poor and when you wake you feel tired already. You want help from a holistic perspective. I will teach you how to manage your mind and your nervous system so that you can function better during the day and sleep well at night. I will help you heal the root causes of your anxiety. Your relationships and your health will improve. A "fresh look" look at your difficulties might bring hope into a situation that you have considered to be hopeless.

I help couples using the Gottman method, a data-driven approach, to improve connection and conflict management.
Relationships require trust, communication, and profound awareness of each other’s worlds. I work with couples, including polyamorous, non-monogamous, kinky, etc, to build connection, trust, and intimacy in their relationships. I also help partners learn to manage relationship conflict more effectively. I help partners find ways to communicate about challenging and sensitive issues. This is important when partners struggle to connect around each other's unique sexual wants and needs. These conversations need an atmosphere of trust, acceptance, and non-judgment, as partners learn to validate and respond to each other's sexual selves.

Asking for help takes courage. We all face challenges in life – perhaps difficulties with depression or anxiety, relationship problems, physical health, trauma, finances, etc. More broadly, sometimes we feel alone and struggle with figuring out our meaning and purpose in life. You don’t have to walk through difficult times alone, and I would be honored to offer support in your journey. I’ve been a licensed clinical psychologist for over 25 years, and have had the privilege of serving individuals and couples in diverse settings. I approach therapy in a collaborative and empowering manner, and help clients draw upon their strengths.

My specialties are relationship counseling and EMDR for trauma. I have advanced training in EMDR and am Certified through EMDRIA. You usually have it all together, but right now you find yourself stressed out, overwhelmed, or unsure of what steps to take. Sometimes it feels like things may not get better, and other times you feel like the people around you just don’t understand what you’re going through. If you’re struggling within a relationship, you may feel frustrated to realize that you no longer recognize the person next to you. I know that life can be challenging sometimes, and I know how much courage and resilience it takes to reach out for help.

It takes a lot of guts to become a therapist as a second career. But, when you are as driven, passionate, and caring as Mike, it makes sense why he did it. He’s a natural and makes his clients feel at home right from the jump.

Honestly, Chris is just a really cool and chill guy. This makes him so easy to open-up to. No judgement, no lectures, just progress. He is well-liked around ALL IN Therapy Clinic. After meeting him, it should be easy to see why. He's a really relaxed guy who is super easy to talk to.

I have been a therapist for individuals, couples, and families for over 15 years. I provide counseling for those who want help with sexual concerns, disordered eating maintenance/body image recovery, prenatal/postpartum issues, relationship strains, trauma symptoms, and problematic drinking/sober curiosities. I want to understand what it is you hold most dear and find meaningful in your life and relationships. By doing this, I can help you identify and navigate how to align with your values, intentionally, through awareness of unhelpful patterns and incremental behavioral change.

You've been through a lot of pain in your life, but nothing has stopped you yet. You've persevered and gotten this far. Yet you keep finding yourself stuck in the same patterns. Your history doesn't define you, but you can't seem to leave it behind either. When life is just too overwhelming you find yourself self medicating, overeating, overspending, or doom scrolling through social media just to get a few moments of relief. At times you get irritable, snap at your kids or your partner, or disengage altogether. You know there's a better life waiting for you, but it's so elusive.

Gottman Method Therapists

How does the Gottman method work?

One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?

Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?

Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
