I imagine you're seeking a psychotherapist for counseling because you hope to make some important changes. Success working with a psychologist depends on you feeling comfortable engaging in a collaborative manner with her. Some therapy sessions may be difficult as you ask important questions about yourself, how you function in the world. As you proceed, you may experience frustration, confusion, anxiety, self-doubt and/or conflicted feelings, but at the end of your psychotherapy you'll most likely have learned something new to help you with the concerns that brought you in to seek psychological treatment.

We are created for connection. All of us are searching for meaning, purpose and belonging. We are made to be in relationships with each other. Our relationships provide an opportunity for life's greatest joy and greatest heartache. All of us experience the brokenness of our world and fall short of relational wholeness. Each of us a unique combination of biology and experience, which results in unique challenges, vulnerabilities, strengths, and hopes. I believe everyone has the insight, ability, and potential to thrive in our human experience and sustain a meaningful life.

I bring warmth, dedication, and an open presence to help clients sort through difficult issues and develop lasting confidence.

Life is full of relationships, experiences, and events that impact us and ultimately shape who we are and how we interact with the others in the world. I strive to join with my patients to work through the challenging and painful things in life so that together we can move towards greater understanding. The relationship between patient and therapist creates the foundation essential to explore and ultimately work through these difficulties that cause pain and struggle. In order to move towards healing we need to feel heard, understood, and accepted just as we are.

I believe strongly in the power of human resilience and believe our relationships are a key factor in this. As a marriage and family therapist, I enjoy working with adults, couples and families. I have experience working in a treatment setting for chemical dependency and complex trauma, where I gained experience in using somatic approaches such as Brainspotting and inner child work to help individuals overcome childhood wounds to be more present and functional in their current lives and relationships. I am also an AAMFT approved supervisor and with current openings for individual, dyad or group supervision.

By combining a back-ground in nursing, psychology and social work, my goal is to help individuals achieve a greater sense of physical, emotional and spiritual well being. I provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals and couples who want to explore issues that may be contributing to their feelings of being stuck or dissatisfied with their way of being. I view the therapy process as a joint venture between myself and the client. I believe that every individual has the capacity to answer their own questions by drawing from their own inner wisdom.

Therapy is a process of investigation and change, looking deeply at what works and what doesn't work. While some answers may lie in the past, you and I will work together to understand your life, relationships, and desire for change as they are right now. Change begins the moment you recognize the need for it. I have the skills, compassion, and desire to help you explore new possibilities and practice the change you want. Examples of issues I have worked with include depression and anxiety, infertility, life transitions, relationship difficulties, parenting, and family of origin and attachment issues.

Are you contemplating therapy? Asking yourself if you really need it? The decision to participate in therapy is very personal and rarely straightforward. The majority of clients I work with are competent, well-functioning individuals who are struggling in some way or are feeling dissatisfied, unhappy, or stuck. Whether it's regarding a past experience, your everyday life, your relationship, fears about the future, or something more devastating or extraordinary, therapy can help.
