Since getting my degree in psychology I have spent much time working with people who have issues of anger management and who live with its consequences.
More information at; davidadubois.com I believe that therapy is not an easy process to begin or to say with over time. I have been a therapist for over 20 years and before that worked for 12 years as an alcohol and drug counselor. I work from a cognitive behavioral therapy perspective and believe that people come to therapy because they have tried every solution they know to make there life better. I believe therapy works best in an atmosphere of respect and trust, that people come to therapy because they want to make there life better in some way.

I work with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and personal issues including therapy for depression, anxiety, addictive behaviors and anger management.
It is easy to outwardly act as if all is well when inwardly one might be struggling and unable to enjoy all life has to offer. Making the choice to seek professional counseling is a difficult one, and takes courage! Have you been feeling like you aren't thriving in life? My goal is to provide a judgment-free place where you can feel safe to discover your true self while having the opportunity to experience positive change in your life.

I specialize in working with individuals with symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, sleep issues, trauma, isolation, disordered eating, anger, and grief.
I work with an amazing team at ALL IN Therapy that approaches treatment from a holistic mindset. Working nine-to-five doesn't mean there isn't time to prioritize your mental health. I'm a "night-owl therapist" and am available from 11 AM through 9 PM on weekdays. I want to ensure that therapy can integrate seamlessly into your life without disrupting it, whether you work daytime hours, are a student, or just feel more comfortable talking with someone after a long day rather than during it. We'll work together to find ways to manage your concerns so you can find more stability, passion, meaning, and peace in your life.

I conduct the following types of psychological evaluations: ADHD, General Mental Health/Diagnostic, Anger Assessments, Pre-surgical Psychological Evaluations, and Court-Ordered Evaluations.
Are you contemplating therapy? Asking yourself if you really need it? The decision to participate in therapy is very personal and rarely straightforward. The majority of clients I work with are competent, well-functioning individuals who are struggling in some way or are feeling dissatisfied, unhappy, or stuck. Whether it's regarding a past experience, your everyday life, your relationship, fears about the future, or something more devastating or extraordinary, therapy can help.

I work with children and adults who are neurodivergent, have anger issues, self-harm, loss, relationship struggles, behavioral problems, and parenting.
Immediate openings are available. Life can be hard and when it is, you may feel alone but you don't have to. Have you or your child felt anxious, overwhelmed, sad, hopeless, or angry? Have you wondered where all of these feelings come from? Do you or your child have trouble concentrating on one thing at a time? Do you ever wonder what is happening to your child? Or, do you just want to talk to someone who will listen? If you have answered yes to any of these questions: I can help you. I create a safe space to work through all of those feelings.

As a parent of a struggling teenage son, you want to do whatever you can to help get your teen on the right path. I help struggling teenage guys discover their identity, realize their strengths, and use those strengths to catapult into adulthood with a sense of competence and confidence. Adolescence is an exciting time where teens form their unique identity, build meaningful social connections, and learn to think in an innovative way. Ironically, what makes adolescence so exciting can also make it enormously stressful for both teens and their caretakers.

My personal philosophy and professional approach to therapy is based on the belief that when therapeutic objectives are developed collaboratively between the client and therapist, there will be greater productivity and ultimate success of the treatment. The methodologies and theoretical applications that I use are a conglomerate of tools based on extensive academic training in health psychology, which includes the scientific study of the bio-chemical and neuro-physiological processes of the human brain & body and its effect on emotions, thoughts, perception and behavior; and furthermore incorporates the use of cognitive-behavioral, psycho-analytical, object relations, multi-cultural and humanistic perspectives.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
