Aurora recognizes the important roles that relationships, experiences, and beliefs play in our daily lives. Our family and childhood influence our personal development; however, they are not the only determinants of who we become. We are not static beings but live in a state of constant flux, continuing to grow and having the capacity to choose change. Sometimes, changes may feel unwanted, scary or overwhelming. We may struggle in adjusting to them, or feel stuck in old patterns of responding that no longer work for us. Aurora adopts a client-centered approach and values all aspects of a person's physical, mental, and social world.

My experience working with a diverse population of families, couples and individuals of all ages has led me to adopt and practice with a relational, client-centered and strengths-based approach. This follows my observations that individuals have internalized resources, wisdom and capacity for resilience that are often unrecognized or repressed. Strengthening those parts of the self provide the most enduring and transformative healing experiences. I also believe a critical component of my work with clients is helping them understand the brain/body connection, and how to utilize this understanding to manage symptoms and responses.

Making the decision to begin therapy can be difficult, and is a brave step in taking care of your own wants and needs in life. I deeply value the various aspects that make up the journeys of others, as we all have our own unique stories. Often through reflection, when we allow ourselves to slow down and notice what we are experiencing in the moment, true self discovery and capacity from within can be cultivated. With compassion and openness I walk beside my clients as they work toward relief and resolution.

During my forty years in the field I am continually amazed at the power of human connection. My goal as a psychotherapist is to enable each individual that I work with to experience their most empowered, real and authentic self in the here and now. This experience in therapy includes concentrating on strengths that we all have yet in our darkest times fade from our awareness. My commitment to my clients is to have available as many options as possible so no matter what the presenting issue, I will have the skills needed.

Each of us experience times in our lives in which our problems seem overwhelming. We may become stuck in the same patterns of dealing with challenges. By working collaboratively with clients through therapy or psychological assessment, my goal is to help each of my clients become "unstuck" and create positive change. Therapeutic relationships built on trust & respect are imperative to the success of any therapeutic intervention. I strive to create a warm & safe environment in which client's can feel more comfortable telling their stories & exploring the issues for which they are seeking support.

Do you fear no one will understand you? In situations longer than you should be? Struggling with the complexities of grief or major life transitions? I help adolescents, teens, and adults heal their self-worth wounds before their potential harmful coping skills manifest into lifelong struggles, and help folks rewrite their story once they understand that the only person that needs to understand them is themselves.

Immediate availability! My approach to therapy is warm and interactive. You’ll find me using humor a lot; just because therapy is hard work doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! I enjoy getting to know people on a deep level and helping uncover unconscious patterns holding them back. I'm all about getting to the root of a problem, and I will always be honest and direct with you. I offer a holistic approach to therapy and help people gain insight on the developmental experiences that shaped their current belief systems. To me, the biggest compliment is when clients enjoy coming to therapy and feel empowered to heal.

Therapy is unique and diverse, as is each individual. Depending on the issue and type of therapy, help can come in the form of support, guidance, information, self-knowledge and/or a space to learn and practice new skills. The center of my practice is focused on building empowerment, balance, self-esteem, and self-awareness. I offer a warm and empathic environment for those facing difficult life transitions, relational challenges, past and present traumas, underlying issues of illness and stress, and any other issues preventing individuals from realizing the freedom and happiness of their true nature.

I specialize in working with clients who have experienced narcissistic abuse. As an adult child of a narcissist myself, I know all too well how difficult it is to get help and to heal. Narcissism isn't necessarily overt abuse, especially for children, and it is often hard to figure out why you feel depressed, anxious, struggle with perfectionism, or keep finding yourself in codependent relationships as adults. Narcissistic abuse is trauma and it can keep you in survival mode for a very long time. As trauma therapist, I would love to help you learn to thrive, to find joy, to be free, and really live your own life. We do heal!

Immediate availability: in-person & virtual. Did you wake up again today with that nagging feeling in the pit of your stomach, that reminder that something is "off"? Do you feel dread, sadness, fear, anxious, overwhelmed, or some variation of all? Whether you're coming apart at the seams and everyone is noticing, or quietly pretending, both are exhausting. Perhaps you know the cause or not, but the fact is, you're stuck. I get it because I've been there too and I know it's daunting, dark, and heavy. The good news is that it gets better and you don't have to face it alone. Let me be your gentle guide and helping hand along the way.

I work with LGBTQ+ and polyamorous folks. I recognize that many of us have experienced relationship challenges, trauma, and discrimination, and that our identities are a critical component of how we heal and grow. Finding a sense of who you are is never an easy process, but receiving invalidating messaging from the world while holding past and present wounds makes it even more difficult. The stories we tell about ourselves, inside and outside the context of personal identities, have power over how we understand our emotions, experiences, and relationships. What might it be like to tell your story in a new way?

“..Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars” -Martin Luther King, Jr. It may be a dark time in your life or you may be unable to see your own goodness buried deep inside. Possibly you just want to explore what makes you happy and alive. There are so many reasons to seek out counseling and it is because of those reasons I became a therapist. I'm naturally curious about human nature. That, along with my knowledge of mind and body, neuroscience of the brain, and over 20 years of therapy experience, I can help you find the answers you are searching for.
