I also work with many individuals who are having trouble adjusting to significant life stressors, such as divorce, loss of a loved one, employment stress, or parenting concerns.
Accepting New Clients! People often hold their pain inside, perhaps fearing they will burden others or not get the support they need. I can help by providing a space in which you can express yourself freely. In my experience, opening up emotionally to access the core of pain is where lasting, transformative change takes place. Thus, I am committed to providing an environment in which you feel free to express your feelings, no matter how difficult, in order to lead a fuller, richer life.

IMMeDIATE Day openings Tues-thurs Right now life feels unstable, confusing, and scary! Over the past year, everything you know has changed. As the person who was already exhausted, struggling in relationships, and overwhelmed with the chaos of your own feelings, thoughts, and behaviors these problems have intensified. You feel lost and alone and you cannot do the activities you used to enjoy.

We are created for connection. All of us are searching for meaning, purpose and belonging. We are made to be in relationships with each other. Our relationships provide an opportunity for life's greatest joy and greatest heartache. All of us experience the brokenness of our world and fall short of relational wholeness. Each of us a unique combination of biology and experience, which results in unique challenges, vulnerabilities, strengths, and hopes. I believe everyone has the insight, ability, and potential to thrive in our human experience and sustain a meaningful life.

Waitlist for new clients
You have done the hardest part, showing up for yourself, and acknowledging that you are important. Therapy is not easy, and finding the space to connect and/ or reconnect to your self exploration and personal reflection is a gentle process. We as individuals shift all the time, and I believe in the ability to sit in discomfort, process emotions and experiences, while creating steps for growth, transition, and change. The ability to become more secure and confident in yourself, while learning your own personal patterns that may impact attachment, communication, and coping skills, and wanting to grow through each stage.

During this Coronavirus crisis, remote therapy is available by telephone or video conference for maximum safety. I can help you with any discomfort you feel about this. The Coronavirus has created many challenges for us. We are faced with news coverage, financial stress, doing our best to work from home while children are present, the strain of social distancing, or risking our safety at our jobs. Anxiety, discouragement, and sadness are becoming commonplace, with a fear of the unknown. Individual therapy for adults and adolescents, couple, and family therapy are available.

Not accepting new clients
I have been in practice for 30 years. I have learned we all seek to feel valued & safe in our relationships. Sometimes when we are not feeling valued we become angry & in the process self defeating in our behaviors. My goal is to help clients gain confidence so they are better able to get their needs met within their relationships.

Divorce Therapists

How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?

Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?

There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?

When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
