I absolutely adore working with people who are ready to face the things in life keeping them stuck and walking alongside them in the journey of getting to where they want to be. Whether it's interpersonal challenges with friends, family, or partners, professional transitions, identity shifts, or anything in between, I'm here for it! My ideal client is someone who is excited (even if a little nervous..) about the journey of therapy, regardless of why they are starting or re-starting, and are open to direct and honest conversation, practicing skills between sessions, and doing the incredible work of shifting toward intentional living.

This includes during pregnancy and the postpartum time, being a team while experiencing stress in the family, blended families, coparenting after a divorce, and working with parents who have a child or children with medical or mental health conditions, such as ADHD, ASD, and/or other challenges.
Helping people who feel stuck get unstuck is my passion. Finding balance and addressing feeling disconnected or overwhelmed. Offering enthusiastic support and new perspectives on the underlying reasons a person or couple is struggling and then how to make real change. We will build awareness and incorporate new skills to address whatever feels hard right now. And working towards being more content. Often, this includes helping people learn how to better identify and communicate their needs and hopes and desires.

I believe that a successful therapeutic relationship can become the catalyst to change, one interaction, one session at a time. Therapy sessions with me are targeted to provide security in the vulnerability required to do the deep and restorative work necessary to make positive change. My job as a therapist is to create a relationship that honors that space and guides my clients through growth personally, in their relationships, and their lives as a whole. My background and experience in child psychology lends itself to insight into parenting as well as reflection upon family of origin as it manifests in the present.

It is truly my joy and privilege to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families on their journey towards hope and healing. People consider therapy for many reasons and every reason is significant. Life can be difficult and suffering is inevitable at times. Relationships can also be challenging and people often desire more positive connection and understanding in relationship with those they love. I work with individuals, including children (age 7+), couples, and families to address these issues. My caseload primarily includes clients experiencing anxiety, depression, attachment difficulties, and marital and family conflict.

Hello and welcome! I'm Alex a clinical social worker and mental health rehabilitation provider since 2007. I'm a firm believer in balancing the books and my years of practice-based evidence to meet you where you're at. I would be a great therapist for you if you desire accountability, direct/assertive communication, constructive criticism of behavior/thought patterns. If you are a frequent late cancel/no show'er, fly by the seat of your pants, TLDR/didn't check texts/can't find it in my email or are uncomfortable using technology, this caveat will be Exhibit A when we discuss termination of services.

Many men want healthy relationships but find themselves living a double life. Do you find yourself hiding infidelity, seeking out anonymous partners, compulsively using pornography, or struggling being open and honest in your relationships? Do you feel like there is a part of you that is uncontrollable, that you can't stop even though you are facing consequences - from your partner, your family, or your own shame and guilt?

An ideal client is one who is open to the transformative potential of therapy. In our sessions, I apply systems theory to illuminate how the societal and personal systems we navigate contribute to mental and internal strain, distancing us from our authentic selves. My integrative approach combines advanced modalities, including mindfulness-based interventions, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), polyvagal theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and attachment theory. This comprehensive blend empowers individuals to heal deep-seated wounds and unlock their inner potential.

My approach is inspired from psychodynamic therapy, family systems, gestalt, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Helping you heal and reach your full potential is both a blessing and a privilege. Offering you a healing process filled with compassion, authenticity, warmth, and a non judgmental attitude is my priority. My offering: A healing process that helps you to discover and understand how unresolved painful experiences from the past keep impacting your present thoughts, needs, feelings and behaviors. Developing skills to become aware of these, will allow you to have a more loving relationship with ALL the parts of yourself. As a result, more meaningful relationships and deeper connections with others will follow.

Feeling a sense of belonging is crucial to mental health. You want to feel like you matter to your community, your loved ones, and yourself. Whether struggling in your primary relationship, feeling like you don't fit in with your faith community because of your unique beliefs or identity, or feeling unable to sense your own worth generally, help is available. I will empower you by helping you see how your strengths can help you rekindle a belief in your worth and abilities. Through both empathy and accountability, I can help you find joy in your relationships and your life generally.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
