My approach in therapy is relational in order to cultivate a supportive, non-judgmental relationship. I view therapy as a mechanism to empower you to play an active role in your healing process by utilizing your strengths and resources to thrive, even when faced with systemic barriers. My belief is that meeting you where you are and providing various skills and tools to help you strive toward your goals is critical to treatment success. I tend to be flexible in my treatment approach based on your needs.

Life feels stuck in the same place. Inside it feels like rush hour traffic, so many thoughts, so many noises, it can be so hard to keep track. Your thoughts are not the kindest and feel scattered all over the place. Your emotions make it feel impossible to figure out the missing pieces. You’re trying to start new habits and make life changes, but you keep finding yourself back where you started. These messages from society and life creep in and it feels like there is something wrong with yourself and your brain. Here is the thing, there’s nothing wrong with you. Sometimes, we adapt in ways that work.Other times, our tools backfire.

I have helped individuals find their way through depression, anxiety, trauma and grief, all while honoring the truth of their stories.
We all have our own stories to tell. Sometimes it can be hard to tell those stories. It's either too painful, we're worried what other may think, or we may think our stories are somehow wrong or not worth telling. Whether your story is filled with sadness, pain, fear, shame or loneliness you should be able to share your story and feel the validation of your uniqueness. You should also be able to see the joy hiding inside the struggle.

Therapy can provide a powerful opportunity for self-understanding and balance restoration which ultimately leads to growth and emotional healing. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe and trusted space with clients to help them begin to identify problematic patterns and explore healthy, effective coping skills. My hope is this repairative process will facilitate change not just within the context of therapy but in all relationships and areas of a client's life. There are many issues we may explore in therapy: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image, grief/ loss and life transitions among others.

Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, work stress, grief and loss, personal or professional identity, relationship problems, life stage transitions, or general stuckness, I will meet you where you are with compassion and approachability. Together, we'll build a safe and trusting space where you can openly explore your challenges and goals. We'll work collaboratively to understand what's holding you back and develop a plan for positive change. And yes, we'll even find moments for laughter and lightness along the way. I won't pretend to have all the answers or offer quick fixes. However, I can offer unwavering support.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
