Anxiety, sleep, postpartum, couples therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), life adjustments, self esteem and self identity, social anxiety, anger management, chronic pain, grief and loss, compassion fatigue and more.
I have been in the Mental Health field for almost 20 years specializing in individual, children, families and couples therapy. Often people seek therapy when they feel stuck. Sometimes it takes a unbaised voice to put new persepctive into your thought process. Are you experiencing a change in career, a loss of a relationship, parenting difficulties, social anxiety or low self esteem? Do you overthink situations, feel misunderstood or judged? Have you even said, " I know why, but can't seem to change." Knowledge alone without application of daily skills cannot create lasting change.

Do you feel overwhelmed by constant worries that disrupt your daily activities and peace of mind? Living with anxiety can mean sleepless nights, difficulty concentrating, and physical symptoms like restlessness or a racing heart. It's exhausting to feel like you're always on edge, and I understand the weight and persistence of these feelings. You're not alone in this, and acknowledging your struggles is the first step towards recovery

A majority of people who struggle with substance use and behavioral addictions also suffer with co-occurring mental health issues like depression, anxiety, anger, or ADHD. Managing these co-occurring issues alone is not recommended. Some bounce back and forth from therapists to treatment centers for management, making no progress in the disconnected process. The recommended approach is co-occurring treatment, and I have helped hundreds of people recover their lives by helping them manage addiction while exploring, uncovering, and improving their inner lives and their relationships with others.

I conduct the following types of psychological evaluations: ADHD, General Mental Health/Diagnostic, Anger Assessments, Pre-surgical Psychological Evaluations, and Court-Ordered Evaluations.
Are you contemplating therapy? Asking yourself if you really need it? The decision to participate in therapy is very personal and rarely straightforward. The majority of clients I work with are competent, well-functioning individuals who are struggling in some way or are feeling dissatisfied, unhappy, or stuck. Whether it's regarding a past experience, your everyday life, your relationship, fears about the future, or something more devastating or extraordinary, therapy can help.

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
