I work with people that learned to be hard on themselves as a way to survive, but could benefit from kinder ways to motivate themselves. They are often talented, smart, funny, creative, and caring but tend to be too critical of themselves. They struggle with feeling good enough, even though they may have a track record of overachieving. As a result, they may feel stressed, exhausted, and overwhelmed. They come to therapy because they want a more sustainable, balanced, and authentic life. Together, we navigate the complexities of being their true selves in a society that may not value their unique strengths and points of view.

When the pressures of life get to be too overwhelming, we tend to put ourselves last. I work with clients who get so caught up in meeting everyone else's needs that they lose themselves and start to feel burned out. If you are living a life that is taking too much from you and you need to find some balance and rest, you have come to the right place.

I find that people can be in all sorts of stages in their lives and readiness to change. What matters more is the willingness to explore, be curious, and most likely ask some difficult questions. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to connect with people with all different kinds of life experiences. I tend to relate with those who identify as neurodivergent, or feel "other" in some way. My approach is very non-judgmental, and I do well with those who live "alternative" lifestyles, such as polyamory, ethical monogamy, kink/BDSM, and/or sex workers. I've been a therapist for a long time and no one has scared me away yet!

Hello, I'm Kate! I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and families. I approach therapy through an attachment and client-focused lens. I believe that all people seek security, connection, and a sense of belonging. When these fundamental needs aren’t met, especially in early childhood, mental health symptoms and other struggles can arise.

Life can be a lot and talking with someone can help. Sometimes it’s a matter of having an unbiased ear to listen, someone assuring you that you have value, or someone to help get your thoughts in order. We all have different experiences and needs, and finding a therapist can be helpful. I am passionate about mental health and working to make tackling our own mental health issues approachable. I have a compassionate and realistic approach to mental health and view it as a necessary part of anyone’s life. I believe therapy is most effective by providing a non-judgmental space for people to be heard, appreciated, and validated.

Making the decision to begin therapy can be difficult, and is a brave step in taking care of your own wants and needs in life. I deeply value the various aspects that make up the journeys of others, as we all have our own unique stories. Often through reflection, when we allow ourselves to slow down and notice what we are experiencing in the moment, true self discovery and capacity from within can be cultivated. With compassion and openness I walk beside my clients as they work toward relief and resolution.
