We all struggle sometimes and feel overwhelmed. When people come to see me, they want help replacing the feeling of being overwhelmed with the belief that they can navigate their current situation and get to a better place. Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Relationship struggles, Addiction struggles, Parenting struggles, Infidelity, Broken dreams. If all it takes is a set of instructions that I can follow, it would be simple. But broken lives spring from deep feelings of inadequacy. Healing begins when we connect deeply with our true self and know we are loved just the way we are. Then we can be free to change and grow.

Stuck? Repeating the same non-helpful patterns? Change often begins when we feel really listened to and understood. Struggles get untangled as we tell our stories in a safe place. My approach is to give each client a safe and compassionate place to tell their story and look for new pathways together. Sometimes the hope of change seems almost impossible, but in more than a decade of private practice, I have seen so many couples and individuals restore their hope and find a healing path to a new way of living. I'd love to join you on that healing journey for a season. Come on in. I'm eager to hear your story.

I have the belief that all doors open and close for a reason and that if we desire to be where the creator wants us, he will put us exactly where we need to be and I believe that I'm supposed to be in a place where I help others realize this. I've seen people lose hope and believe the lie that it is non-existent; I have a passion for helping people regain hope and grow personally and spiritually. Have you adopted a child with an FASD? Families often struggle parenting a child with a neurodevelopmental disorder associated with prenatal exposure to alcohol or other substances. Unfortunately, typical parenting strategies usually don't work leaving the parent and child feeling frustrated and hopeless. Furthermore, these children may also have trauma histories, attachment and sensory integration issues that complicate behaviors. I help parents understand the purpose of their child's behavior in order to develop accommodations that will lead to greater satisfaction and success. I provide psychoeducation, school consultations and resources to support the family's journey.

I see life as a mosaic of experiences, and we all do the best we can with what we know at the time. But sometimes, anxiety, depression or the simple challenges of daily life can hold people back from living the fullest, best story of their life. My goal as a therapist is to explore and bring to light a person’s inner strengths, so they can overcome their personal obstacles and enjoy better, more productive lives and relationships. Everyone, regardless of life’s stumbles, deserves the best life they can imagine, and my goal is to walk with them and help them along this journey.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
