As a Therapist my first goal is to create a safe space that is free from judgment to heal in. I enjoy working with people to build self compassion and I believe in the human capacity for healing. As your therapist it is important to me that I do not make assumptions and because of that I will ask a lot of questions. We all have a common humanity but no one's journey looks like yours. I will want you to help me to understand exactly how it feels to be you. Our next step is to make a plan to create the ease and space for your most content self.
I am a licensed clinical social worker and I am trained in EMDR, Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and Parts work. I began my career working in Family Systems theory, which looks at the system you grew up in so that will inform the therapy practice.
I will use methods of therapy that use your narrative (the way you story your life), the body (the stories your body tells you and how you respond) and your actions (what you can do that impacts your well being and calms your fight, flight, freeze system).
