Taking the step to reach out for therapy, on our own or with a partner/family member, is a brave move. Relationships and life in general can offer great sources of joy as well as frustrations, and when talking with our family and friends, we may edit or limit what we say for fear of judgment, or burdening them. Reflecting and expressing ourselves freely with a neutral, non-judgmental helping professional is an excellent way to increase self awareness and insight about the challenges we encounter, even if we aren’t quite certain what to say.

As some people like to say: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade! However, in those moments of hardship or change, hurt or grief, this isn't always the easiest task. That is where I come in! I have a strange belief that, as therapists, when we are kind, supportive and real, and we seem like real human beings ourselves, therapy can be a lot more successful. A strong, trusting bond within the therapeutic relationship is essential for progress, and I hope that by being real myself, I can invite you to be your authentic, vulnerable self in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space with me.

You feel the pressure to do it all, get everything right, and take care of everyone around you, but inside... you feel alone, exhausted, and like you’re still not good enough. The thought of putting yourself first feels impossible, or you feel guilty when you try. You are struggling to cope with current stressors, and still feel stuck in difficult past experiences. Things feel overwhelming and too difficult to manage on your own right now. I promise, you're not alone, and I am ready to walk alongside you as you unpack your personal experiences and the systemic factors that impact the way you experience the world.

I work from a non-judgmental, non-shaming, non-pathologizing perspective. My role is to help clients understand, heal and/or transcend underlying and often unconscious patterns that manifest as addiction, anxiety, depression and so many other complex ways our lives get stuck, stagnate and lose vitality. I am certified in NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), which is a globally recognized modality for resolving Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). Through our work together, clients report feeling more ease, freedom and energy to pursue a life that allows stuck energy to move toward growth, wholeness and fulfillment.

***Not taking new clients at this time*** Taking a step towards healing can be difficult. I hope to make this process a bit easier for you. Whether you are coming to therapy for the first time, currently in crisis, need help for something specific that has recently happened, or just value having space to talk through what is on your mind, my intention is to create a safe space for you to do so. Together, we will develop a curiosity about how to effectively make positive changes to assist you in decreasing your current distress and living a more fulfilling life.

I work with a wide variety of clients and mental health concerns, and especially enjoy supporting adults and couples looking to improve communication and satisfaction in their relationships. I believe that therapy can help people find new, positive ways of connecting and increasing their sense of support and resiliency. In addition to relationship work, I help people going through life transitions in all stages of life. I particularly like working with adults in middle age and beyond navigating an empty nest, balancing care for children and aging parents, or those moving into retirement and exploring their identity outside of work.

The world can feel like a lonely place when you struggle with feelings of anxiety and depression. Maybe what you are feeling can’t be explained and no one knows how you feel. People have told you to "just get over" things that have hurt you or to suck it up when you feel low. Maybe you were never taught how to express the way you feel emotionally and if you did, you were dismissed. If this is the case, know you are not alone there are people out there that feel the same as you do. There is hope in therapy. There is a safe place to be validated to be heard.

I help people find their voice and true selves, whose lives have been impacted by trauma and various forms of abuse in their childhood. By engaging in deep meaningful conversation and exploring with art materials in sessions, we can choose to move from survival and reactions to owning and living our lives fully. Much of traumatic experiences reside in the non-verbal part of the brain. The use of creative art therapy allows the individual to express feelings in a visual and sensory way, allowing for a better understanding of the feeling which allows us to find our own buried truths.

Are you using unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with your anxiety and/or depression?
Increasingly, the pressures of life, complicated relationships, traumatic events which are or feel beyond our control are leading us to problematic emotional states.
Frequently, negative emotions such as shame, anger or hatred, or envy and jealousy, link to negative self-talk, dictating our feelings, thoughts and actions. I find it is usually helpful to apply a holistic approach, working with the mind/body connection which counsels attention to the present moment rather than dwelling in the past or obsessing about the future.
