Some of the methods I use are: somatic emobodiment, focusing, re-wilding, eco/wilderness, earth and nature-based, mindfulness, Indigenous African Spirit Technologies, and ritual.
Erica is a therapist's therapist. I work with the elements of nature to reveal the sources of discomfort, disharmony, and dis-ease that are often the source of pain, suffering, and trauma within a person, family, or ancestral lineage. I believe that a holistic approach is vital to true wellbeing and that healing occurs on multiple levels- emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual. In addition to clinical experience, I lived in West Africa and after returning I apprenticed with Dagara Elder, Malidoma Somé.

With extensive training in Somatic Experiencing and Brainspotting and over 18 years of clinical experience, I have observed that our upbringing and past pain want to heal and often show up as depression, anxiety, or physical symptoms.
SOMATIC therapy! What is it? Well, if thinking could rid you of your problems you would have been freed long ago because. It is time to identify the root issues, confront the pain and fear from the past so you can move forward. Somatic therapy allows you to think, feel and move through stuck issues. It is time to live out your values with integrity and have meaningful connections with yourself, your loved ones and your community. It's time to be done with unresolved trauma and move on to bigger and better things.

I believe for clients to have the most beneficial therapeutic experience, there must be a strong relationship between client and counselor. Because of this, I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is comfortable, non-judgmental, and empathetic. I collaborate with clients to identify their strengths and resources, as well as the obstacles that can get in the way of change. I work together with clients to identify, learn and practice the tools necessary for change to occur.

In our work together, I will view your experience in the context of the people and places that have shaped your life. My practice is grounded in systems theory, relational therapeutic models, and a social equity perspective. I take a trauma-informed approach and emphasize mind/body integration, using somatic techniques proven to reduce symptoms of complex stress-related disorders. I believe we are all creative beings who are capable and deserving of pleasure, and will often incorporate art and play therapy models as a supplement to traditional talk therapy.

I integrate somatic modalities, such as Sensorimotor therapy, Brainspotting, AIR Network, breath work, mindfulness, and yoga in order to help.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have a deep understanding of how our relationships impact and are impacted by our emotional and mental well-being. I help adults and couples learn how to connect emotionally, navigate conflict and communication barriers fairly, and develop authentic and compassionate ways to attune. I have helped many intercultural couples design a road map when there isn’t one in place. I am also passionate about working with developmental trauma, inner-child wounding, and attachment injuries, in order to help you become the person, partner, parent, child, community member or friend you desire to be.

I believe strongly in the power of human resilience and believe our relationships are a key factor in this. As a marriage and family therapist, I enjoy working with adults, couples and families. I have experience working in a treatment setting for chemical dependency and complex trauma, where I gained experience in using somatic approaches such as Brainspotting and inner child work to help individuals overcome childhood wounds to be more present and functional in their current lives and relationships. I am also an AAMFT approved supervisor and with current openings for individual, dyad or group supervision.

I have a strong passion for helping others live more happily and fully in their bodies and lives. I utilize holistic, somatic, and sensorimotor practices with my clients. I find myself gravitating towards a person-centered approach with a strong curiosity for what the client finds most helpful to them. In addition to my psychotherapy practice, I am also a certified trauma informed yoga instructor as well as an artist. I believe that when healing from mental health, addiction and other difficulties, it is essential to include the body into the treatment process and to encourage creativity as well as curiosity.

Effective treatment requires strategies that target the cognitive, emotional and somatic aspects of experience.
Incidents from your past may interfere with your present life. A moment may trigger vivid memories, painful feelings, and intrusive negative thoughts. Your coping strategies may seem insufficient, and at times you may feel stuck with intense emotions and rumination. My specialty is helping people to heal from the impact of past adversity and trauma. I believe that everyone has within them innate capacities to heal and grow, and to discover and develop their inner strengths and wisdom. I have advanced training and expertise in evidence-based methods (EMDR, DBT, and Somatic Therapy) that can help you to recover from the past.

Somatic therapy can be a tool to “get out of our heads” and learn to listen to other information like the wisdom of the body.
Sometimes we need a little extra support. Maybe you feel like something just isn’t quite right, but you’re not sure what it is. Maybe you know what is causing some difficulty, like a big change, a loss, being hurt in a relationship, or trauma. Or maybe you have been feeling a lot of anxiety or stress lately. Life can bring challenges. In our work together I will help you uncover your strengths and capacity to heal.

Our therapeutic relationship is approached primarily through identifying and processing your life experience, body-based awareness, psychoeducation, and use of accelerated experiential dyadic psychotherapy (AEDP) with somatic, mindfulness techniques.
Life is complex and we can process it together. As a clinical social worker, my approach to mental health is rooted in unconditional positive regard for the client with a healing orientation. We identify your strengths, wounds, and the complexities of the systems you are a part of within a highly attuned, trauma-sensitive space. I see the therapeutic relationship as a space for undoing pain and welcoming your wisdom forward.

I am Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) focused on helping people overcome symptoms of PTSD.
Healing occurs with an integration of the mind and body. Bringing mindful awareness to how we experience emotions in our bodies can release us from the patterns that are no longer serving us. Together we will discover your own innate ability to heal in a safe, gentle, and welcoming space.

I've completed training: Somatic Experiencing, Gottman couples therapy, Emotionally-Focused therapy, Internal Family Systems, sandtray, experiential therapy.
I have 1-2 openings ONLY for in-person clients wanting to do Somatic Experiencing (trauma therapy focused on the body/bottom-up processing). I will refer you to someone else if that isn't what you're looking for. The people I enjoy working with most are people who aren't sure therapy is for them, or haven't had great experiences- I get what it's like for therapy not to go well. I'm casual in how I show up to sessions (not stiff or professional), while also having 11 years of experience and training to support clients to more resilient ways of living. I have a non-pathologizing & liberation-oriented lens of people and society.

Meaning emerges organically in somatic work and your stories reveal previously hidden truths.
We all feel stuck or anxious or hopeless sometimes, but when the feelings take over your life, you're probably dealing with unresolved trauma. Trauma involves system overwhelm - something that was too much, too fast, or happened when you were too young to cope. Left unaddressed, it undermines your sense of safety and wellbeing and hijacks your nervous system. Talk therapies address the story-telling mind, which can be an important aspect of healing, but we need to work with trauma where it lives: in the body and often outside of conscious awareness. If you've tried traditional therapy and it didn't really work, this might be why.

I am trained as a somatic, energetic, intuitive therapist.
During this unprecedented time in our lives I provide compassionate guidance to clients seeking support and hopefulness as we collectively deconstruct old paradigms, while creating new ways of understanding ourselves and each other. I believe we are emerging into a new era of letting go of what no longer serves us, negative beliefs about ourselves, fear based thinking and scarcity mindset of the "self" as not enough. This moment in time, we have the opportunity to to heal and learn to love ourselves and cultivate empowered life affirming beliefs.

I pull from mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic psychology, and attachment theory.
I really enjoy working with people from all walks of life. Specifically, I enjoy the treatment of anxiety, depression, working with adolescents, treating problems surrounding self-compassion and self-esteem, and stress management. I thoroughly enjoy working with LGBTQ+ people, as I identify as a fellow community member myself. I approach my work with children through an integrative lens. I believe children shape their world through play. Kiddos shine brightest when they are met with authenticity, validation, and compassion! Currently, I am accepting clients 18 years old and above only.
