I believe the collaboration between the client and the therapist is an essential process to help individuals to seek opportunities to meet their unique therapy needs and goals. I utilize elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques along with other evidence-based practices employing a holistic client-centered approach. I strive to provide compassionate, honest feedback as well as humor to bring positive change. I earned my Master of Arts degree in counseling from Adler Graduate School.

Life can be challenging. Sometimes these challenges come from outside of us (hurts others have caused us through their actions) and other times our challenges come from within (frustrating behavior patterns we just can't seem to shake, patterns of thinking about ourselves and the world around us that cause us needless suffering). When these challenges become too great and leave us feeling afraid, angry, confused or overwhelmed, therapy can be helpful. In my work with clients I strive to instill hope, foster resiliency, and nurture a sense of empowerment and personal agency.

Welcome all and thanks for taking this important step in either your personal wellness journey or your child's! I believe in holistic wellness and work from an evidence-based, strength-based, client-centered, empathetic, warm, and collaborative approach. It is not easy to ask for help and share your narrative, but I am here to support your journey.

I believe when working with people you must look at all aspects of their being; the mental, biological, emotional, spiritual, and cultural to address issues being experienced. Our work as therapists is to work as guides, along with the client, to explore deeper issues that are manifesting in their lives. I seek to find an integrative approach with each client that best fits their needs. Providing a safe and empathetic environment, informed by mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory, and other therapeutic theories and methods, I work to empower and develop skills that provide positive change in client’s lives.

My personal philosophy and professional approach to therapy is based on the belief that when therapeutic objectives are developed collaboratively between the client and therapist, there will be greater productivity and ultimate success of the treatment. The methodologies and theoretical applications that I use are a conglomerate of tools based on extensive academic training in health psychology, which includes the scientific study of the bio-chemical and neuro-physiological processes of the human brain & body and its effect on emotions, thoughts, perception and behavior; and furthermore incorporates the use of cognitive-behavioral, psycho-analytical, object relations, multi-cultural and humanistic perspectives.

I imagine you're seeking a psychotherapist for counseling because you hope to make some important changes. Success working with a psychologist depends on you feeling comfortable engaging in a collaborative manner with her. Some therapy sessions may be difficult as you ask important questions about yourself, how you function in the world. As you proceed, you may experience frustration, confusion, anxiety, self-doubt and/or conflicted feelings, but at the end of your psychotherapy you'll most likely have learned something new to help you with the concerns that brought you in to seek psychological treatment.

I have practiced for 39 years in Minnesota, seeing children, adults, couples and families. My practice currently is primarily with adults and couples (and adult teens) who are seeking a therapist who is collaborative, offers guidance and new perspectives, and believes the client is ultimately in charge of change. I value awareness, mindfulness and the process of living out a personal story that is based on strengths and hopefulness. Above all, I believe that if people feel respected and cared for they are capable of growth and moving through even the most difficult times.
