I am very concerned about people with anger management and domestic abuse issues. I provide individual and group therapy to help individuals avoid the tremendous potential costs that so frequently are associated with these problems. I direct a proven structured program that is both educational and therapeutic. I am the most experienced specialist in Minnesota for adult males with these concerns. I'm in the office afternoons and evenings, Monday through Thursdays. I urge you to find the courage to contact me if you are also concerned about excessive anger or abusive behavior.

I have lived experience with domestic abuse and trauma; I put myself through college and worked full-time while being a single mom.
Do you feel like you're fighting every day just to keep moving forward? Does it feel like everyone around you has life figured out and that you just don't quite get it? It can be a really isolating experience, and I'm here to help. I work with adults, teens (ages 13+), and couples to address neurodivergence and late diagnoses, trauma and dissociation, domestic abuse, relationship issues, single parenthood, parenting concerns, women's issues, and life transitions.

I feel that meeting and speaking with each client allows me the opportunity to view them through the unique scope of listening and reflecting objectively. I am well-versed in anger management and domestic violence issues and have worked extensively with people dealing with depression and anxiety. My goal is to make a difference, small or large, in each session by helping a client to view himself or herself in a more positive, understood way than when they came in.

I have experience working with survivors of domestic abuse, first responders, and survivors of sexual trauma.
The choice to invest in yourself and make changes can be a difficult decision. It takes a certain level of strength and vulnerability in deciding to start therapy. I believe that healing is a journey that begins with your individual strengths, and I am grateful to be part of that path. I provide a warm and welcoming space for you to explore your own relationships, thoughts, emotions, and beliefs to reach your best self. This is a space to be heard, understood and to find healing.

I have over ten years of experience working with women who have experienced trauma, addiction issues, and relationship struggles including domestic/sexual violence.
Trauma based approach, PTSD, Christian Counseling, EMDR, DBT, and CBT offered. As you begin your search for a therapist, please remember to put yourself first and trust that you are worth it! Sometimes it can be easy to bypass ourselves and continue to put others first only to find emptiness staring back at us in the mirror. Let’s work together to find out who you really are and start “showing up” for yourself like you do others. Let’s build confidence and motivation to meet your goals and finally feel at peace in life again. One step at a time remembering that you are not alone in this journey.

Welcome! I'm glad you found my profile. Even if you decide I'm not the right therapist for you, I want to commend you for taking the first step toward improving your mental health. Often, finding the right provider is the hardest part of therapy. I might be the therapist for you if any of the following apply: you've experienced traumatic events and feel stuck, you're grappling with professional burnout or compassion fatigue, you're breaking a family cycle of abuse, or if you've tried traditional talk therapy and need something different.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
