Nicole is a firm believer that trauma and addiction go hand and hand. "It too effects our bodies. A lot of times clients are unaware of that early in their recovery, and they have been using substances to cope for years. I am driven to teach my clients about the mind body connection by the teaching and exploring of somatics, negative thoughts, unconventional coping skills, i.e., such as breathworks, and by exploring safety and its meaning within themselves. Seeing other people's light shine again and finding themselves is the fuel to why I do this healing work."

I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist and enjoy working with families, couples, individuals, children, teens, and adults across the lifespan. I'm dedicated to helping my clients and families find, develop, and care for the hidden, underdeveloped, and wounded parts of themselves so they can live authentic lives rather than existing in the shadows. We discover ways to bring their lives into alignment with who they really are and strengthen their most meaningful relationships. I develop trusting relationships with my clients and seek to understand and respect all people within their family, community, and culture contexts.

I believe humans are capable of incredible resiliencies and have the full capacity to achieve positive change in their lives. By taking a step towards achieving wellness, you have found yourself looking into counseling. Congratulations, this is a big step! Still, to maintain wellness, we continuously participate in what allows us to be well. It is the obligation of the client to truly participate, both in session and in real life, to reap the full benefit of any therapy or practice.

I focus on the unique challenges of those in high-pressure careers. The intensity of these jobs often leads to relationship problems, anxiety about performance, stress, exhaustion, and burnout, resulting in a shrinking support network and frustrated partners. That’s why I also focus on the families of such individuals.

I have an interest and experience in working with adults who want to understand why they act as they do and how they can change their thinking, behaviors, and emotions so it is more adaptive for them. Too many times we view ourselves as negative or unappealing but those thoughts, behaviors, and emotions started for an important reason - to protect us. But as we have grown those things are no longer advantageous for us and we must learn to do better for ourselves. It is not an easy journey but one that is very worthwhile.

I am passionate about supporting people with anxiety, trauma, teaching coping skills for life transitions, and navigating challenging relationships. I am also comfortable with spiritual topics. I cultivate a non judgmental, shame free environment, and want every person to feel accepted in my space, because change happens when people are free to be as open as possible. I model this behavior in my own life, striving to live life authentically. I recognize that it takes trust and a strong personal connection in order to do this in therapy, and I work hard to help my clients feel safe and open.

Feeling different from the norm can bring both empowerment and challenge. Defying expectations around who you are or what you believe can be liberating and it can also be tough and exhausting. As a fat and queer white woman with an anti-oppressive trauma lens, I am committed to offering an affirming and compassionate therapy space where you can bring your whole self. We can talk honestly about what might be wrong, hard, out of balance, or unjust, because in this space there is nothing “wrong” with you or who you are.

I believe that all humans have the strength and wisdom within to find their true and authentic selves. Seeking one’s self requires vulnerability, courage, and connection to others. Oftentimes, this process can be interrupted by living in a world that says who you are and how you exist is not okay. You can heal from traumatic experiences that may have left you feeling unsafe, untrusting of others and isolated. Taking the courageous step in asking for help is the beginning of you tapping into your own wisdom and strength. I am grateful to be trusted to walk with you on your journey as you start to heal.
