Life can feel like being on a train, where the tracks can lead different directions. I want to be the one that comes along side a person in their time of need, and help guide them towards the direction that is best for them.

My area of interest is complex, chronic mental health challenges - especially Borderline Personality Disorder and chronic depression (sometimes called dysthymia). My clients often struggle with feelings of isolation, instability of mood, and a sense that their relationships never work out the way they’d like them to. Substance use is often involved, but is rarely the main issue. Most have seen a therapist before and garnered some benefit, but they’ve often become a little skeptical about whether psychotherapy can really bring them the change they’re looking for.

Over the course of an individual's life, new events can lead to a disruption in the ability to effectively cope with stressors that may have once been handled effectively. As such, my professional focus is on helping clients who have been through a traumatic/stressful event heal more effectively so that they may resume their lives in a healthier and happier manner. I work primarily from a Cognitive-Behavioral and Strength-based approach, and specific mental health concerns I specialize in include, but are not limited to, Relationship Difficulties, Parenting, Addiction, Depression/Anxiety, Trauma/PTSD, and Grief.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I enjoy working with children, individuals, couples, and families on developing healthier ways of perceiving, communicating, and interacting with ourselves and with one another. Life can just happen so quickly that we sometimes forget to appreciate the people and things around us. I want to help slow down these moments and to build upon what matters which are our own self-worth and the relationships in our life.

I hold that every person is worthy of a safe, unbiased, and productive opportunity to process their experiences. In a world that is increasingly unpredictable and overwhelming, we all carry experiences that challenge our sense of control, disrupt our connections with others, and distance us from ourselves. I came into therapy wanting to serve marginalized communities. Especially, people of color within the LGBTQIA community, partnerships and families of all forms, 1st/2nd generation of immigrants, and the relationship between spirituality and queerness.

My passion lies in understanding how trauma shapes our lives and using evidence-based techniques to help individuals heal and thrive. With a foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I offer a specialized focus on how trauma impacts our mental and emotional well-being. Through CBT, I work collaboratively with clients to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that stem from past experiences. I am licensed in Minnesota and can practice in various U.S. states through the PSYPACT mobility.

I have the honor of working with people experiencing a wide variety of concerns including: depression; anxiety; grief/loss; life transitions; chronic illness; postpartum depression; sexual abuse; relationship problems; low self-esteem; family of origin; stress and more. My relational approach is based on the belief that within the framework of a trusting relationship with a therapist, clients can explore patterns of behavior and emotions which may relate back to earlier relationships. Once a better understanding of the origins of these patterns is developed, people often find lasting freedom from their hold over their lives.
