I can walk with you to healing with the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness therapy and an integrative approach based on the belief that our mind, body, and spirit all interact.
Pain is a powerful motivator for change. Being human means struggling with brokenness and pain. Being human also means we have the choice and ability to work toward healing and toward a more abundant life. When the suffering outweighs the joy of living, it would be my privilege to offer you the tools and guidance needed for healing.I am able to provide this thru personal experience and professional training. I am also a certified yoga instructor and offer individual yoga and meditation (without mysticism) to compliment the therapeutic process.

In therapy, I draw from a wide range of disciplines, including CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and others, depending on your needs and preferences.
I'm a psychologist and Tennessee native who treats adolescents and adults for a wide range of concerns, focusing on depression, anxiety, bad habits, relational difficulties, and many more. You may have a sense that something is wrong with your life but have trouble articulating exactly what it is or resist giving it a medical label; when something's off, you probably experience it holistically in multiple facets of your life. That's normal, and that's what I intend to help you with. You may need help with a concrete problem, or you may need help with existential themes. I see them as interrelated and will assist with both.

My specialties include: grief & loss, relational trauma, faith fractures, identity, transitions, befriending uncomfortable emotions, spiritual integration, and mindfulness.
I am honored to work with clients who feel stuck, have anxious & overwhelmed thoughts, are mentally, emotionally, & physically exhausted, and in need of hope and healing! Many come from helping professions, are creatives, empaths/HSP, spiritually seeking, or in a season of transition such as college, mid-life, or empty nest and are wanting support along the way. These clients desire a safe place to discover their true voice, process grief, or find a new path forward. I believe every person already has the gifts, tools, and resilience within, yet may need a pioneer to help mine, make meaning, and empower toward lasting change.

However, I help clients to experience the emotions, respond with healthy coping strategies, and gather new resources for long-term wellbeing. If you are exhausted with facing the journey alone, I want to support you in healing wounds, addressing your needs, and accomplishing your goals.

My therapeutic approach incorporates Attachment Theory, CBT, Mindfulness-based approaches, and parts work.
Are you struggling with feeling disconnected from yourself and your relationships? Maybe you are about to enter or have just entered motherhood, and you don't recognize yourself anymore. Your body no longer feels like yours, your needs are at the bottom of every to do list, and you're wondering why motherhood doesn't feel like everyone said it should. Or maybe you are going through some other type of transition in your life. You used to be an expert at avoiding your negative emotions, but now you are being hijacked by them during your down time. How do you keep managing it all when things feels so out of control?

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.
When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.
What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.
Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
