There are many stress factors in the lives of kids that can cause them to become sad, anxious, angry or confused such as illness, loss of a loved one, the separation or divorce of parents, or adjustment to a new environment. It is often difficult for these children to put their feelings and concerns into words. Art psychotherapy is a unique way of helping children find solutions to their emotional distress. Children love to make art - to tell stories, to play imaginatively, and to express feelings. Art psychotherapy uses children's natural delight in the creative process to gain a better understanding of their inner world.
In an art therapy session, your child is offered non-threatening ways to communicate what is on their mind, indirectly or without words. They can draw, paint, sculpt, build or engage in dozens of other art experiences. I use both the art experience and verbal exchange to encourage your child to develop creative resources to overcome their challenges.
I create a safe, receptive, non-judgmental environment where your child can feel comfortable expressing themselves through a supportive and caring relationship. I offer Art Psychotherapy and Expressive Arts Therapy services to children, adolescents and families. Please call or email me for a free phone consultation. Evening & weeknight appointments available
