I specialize in working with trauma survivors. For the past fifteen years, I have been providing therapy to survivors of abusive relationships and intimate-partner violence, sexual abuse, and adult individuals who were molested as children. I am certified in EMDR, an integrative psychotherapy treatment for processing of traumatic memories and adverse experiences and bringing them to an adaptive resolution. I am curious about who my clients are and what they need; I see them as experts of their experiences and I feel honored to be a part of a mutual exploration of their preferred self.
Trauma makes a profound impact on one's body, brain, sense of self, and the way one perceives the world. Recovery from trauma involves re-connecting with human beings that are safe and nurturing. Healing is only possible in relationships in which we feel heard, seen, and cared for.
My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and resiliency based. My goal is to support clients in integrating their past by helping them learn how to use tools for tolerating overwhelming feelings, improve their sense of safety, and move toward their hopes and dreams. I want to help people lead a life that is no longer governed and defined by their past.

Groups
Male Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
An ongoing support group for adult male survivors of childhood sexual abuse. The group is built on empowerment, neuroscience, coping skills, psycho-education about trauma and its impact on the brain and body. Group members will understand the ways trauma influences their relationships, sexuality, masculinity, trust, and worldviews. The group emphasizes reciprocity and focuses on a shared history of trauma while supporting unique, individual experiences. The primary goals of this group are to help individuals begin to feel safe, restore a relationship with self and others, learn how to regulate their own physiology, and learn to live in the present. http://latraumagroup.com/index.html
