Your mental health is key to a good life! As a compassionate person who has worked in the mental health field for over 20 years and traveled my healing journey, my greatest joy is helping others find happiness and fulfillment in life. Offering a sense of safety and acceptance, I help clients heal from past hurts/trauma, let go of limiting beliefs, gain self-acceptance, live authentically with self-compassion, and ultimately feel more at peace with themselves. If you are ready for this kind of positive change, are open to new possibilities and are willing to do what it takes, I would love to be a part of your journey.

Generally, each person and I begin by exploring the issues that has brought them to seek out my services. This exploration entails a joint effort that unfolds over time. A relationship is formed that helps us both to see more clearly how the individual is operating in their everyday life. It is through such an exploration that the individual begins to understand themselves, and, especially, their more intimate relating. I also believe that the person leads the treatment such that we will only go as far as each person desires. I can offer ideas, but, in the end, it is the individual who leads us.

Asking for help can be challenging. Let me help you release the grip of suffering and rediscover your wisdom, truth, and joy. Sometimes we can be loath to give up old patterns and learned behaviors that we lean on regardless of the distress they can cause. In today’s perplex world, it can be easy to lose sight of our reality. We often end up ignoring or minimizing our issues rather than taking the time to process and speak about them. Whether it be a transitional time in your life, trauma, depression, anxiety, or simply the challenges of maintaining a sense of self, the most important thing you can do is seek support.

Despite your best attempts to take good care of yourself and be happy, do you find yourself in the same destructive behaviors and same relationship problems over and over again? Know that you can change. Feeling stuck, anxious and unhappy is your way of telling yourself to pay attention to what is going on inside of you. Many times you may not even be aware of what you are feeling or why you are feeling it. By learning to tune into, tolerate and understand your feelings, you can equip yourself to make new choices for yourself that feel right to you.

I had the opportunity to encounter many individuals from all walks of life with many issues that seemingly disturbed their “PEACE”. Those encounters encouraged my counseling journey. My belief is that every individual should live a life of “PEACE”. I believe that “PEACE” is accomplished by combating issues that have disturbed one’s emotional, financial, physical, and spiritual health. My ultimate goal is to assist clients in exploring and processing their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, to improve their quality of life engulfed in “PEACE”.

Making the decision to come to therapy is often one of the hardest decisions for a person to make. You might know that you're having a hard time but perhaps you don't know what to expect from therapy. What will your therapist be like? Can you really trust them? Why would you tell a complete stranger everything about you? These are just a few questions that potential clients sometimes ask themselves before coming in. Although it can be an intimidating experience, it can also be one of the most rewarding experiences.

I have extensive experience in helping teenagers and young adults understand core issues that drive unhealthy behaviors and explore ways to change the behavior. This understanding creates space for hope to improve the relationships within their lives and with themselves while increasing their sense of self and confidence. I have a great passion for utilizing various arts to facilitate healing and to help my clients express themselves both verbally and non-verbally. Art therapy helps clients go deeper in their personal journey and make powerful, long-lasting changes.

"I saw the angel in the marble and chisled until I set him free." (Michelangelo). I see psychotherapy as being like this-most people have it within them to know what they need or want, but something has kept them from feeling free to live life to the fullest. Most people come to see me when they are feeling that important parts of their lives (love, work or play) feel disappointing or "stuck." The "chisling" in therapy is you and I together discovering what is holding you back and identifying so many more choices than it may feel that you have now.

My two areas of expertise are: sex and relationship therapy & religious trauma therapy. I have specific training and experience in both areas. I can help with many different sexual challenges, from purity culture harm, to lack of arousal and orgasm, to differences in desire, as well as the relational tension that comes up around the topic of emotional & physical intimacy. Creating an environment of relational safety is most important, as well as adopting frameworks that help us think in productive and compassionate ways about our sexual experience.

No matter how hard you try to move forward, you feel like your taking one step back. You’re a high performer with perfectionism tendencies and always put on a smile, which helps you forget your pain. You feel you will never be fully happy and never be able to fully enjoy life how others do, because of your many losses, attributing to your decreased self esteem. You may keep friends and family at a distance, to protect yourself from yet another inevitable loss. You may have stopped exercising and taking care of yourself the way you used to, since it takes too much work and you're just surviving at the end of another long day.

Echoes of your earliest traumas grow stronger as grief makes it difficult to breathe. You’ll be trapped here forever; you’re sure of it. Trapped in a cycle of pain that seems impossible to break, as if on an empty rollercoaster that never stops. You’ve endured one loss after the other… after the other. Now, you’re back in the loop again, repeating unhealthy patterns that have never worked and never will. You can see there’s a ride less draining, and more thrilling, and it’s right in front of you but just out of reach. So, you continue to stay put, alone, both anxious and defeated, going round and round again.

•Currently Accepting New Clients• My passion to be a therapist has been inspired by my own experiences, which has guided me on a journey where I can support others through their own growth and healing. I utilize a person-centered approach to therapy because we are each shaped differently by our own experiences, and in turn, our mental health and recovery may also look quite different from each other. My approach emphasizes the importance of building trust and providing an environment that is easy-going so that my clients are able to fully explore and work on the various life challenges in a way that is comfortable and safe.
