My specialty is trauma, with the understanding that trauma is often not just one major event, but also the cumulative effect of both severe and more subtle traumas over a lifetime, ranging from emotional deprivation, bullying, verbal abuse to rejections and perceived failures. Since I believe that trauma contributes to most issues, I work with a broad range of patients, including those struggling with interpersonal problems, having difficulty reaching personal and professional goals, or lacking confidence and positive self-image. I also work with patients experiencing mental illness, ranging from depression to psychotic disorders.
My primary orientation is psychodynamic, and I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). EMDR allows for healing through the resolution of traumatic memories in the brain. I work with my patients to tailor treatment to their specific needs.
