I work with individuals, couples and families from a strengths-based, relational, collaborative, and multicultural approach. My specialties cover a variety of clinical issues that include trauma and loss, relational and family distress, anxiety, depression, and personal wellness. I specialize in working with trauma and abuse survivors, LGBTQ clients, couples, and adolescents and their families. I am sensitive to clients' spiritual and religious perspectives and work to incorporate spirituality into the therapeutic process to the extent they wish. Further, I privilege the role of attachment, bonding, and emotion when working with clients, particularly when struggling with relational distress or trauma.
I use many therapy modalities ranging from more relational and collaboratively oriented models such as internal family systems, solution-focused brief therapy to cognitive behavioral methods and specific evidence-based models targeting symptoms related to post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and relational difficulties that often arise after traumatic experiences.
I work among a community of healthcare providers from whom I seek support and collaboration to serve my clients. I use humor and client feedback to inform my work with clients. Humor brings insight and relief in the midst of suffering, and client feedback helps clients achieve their goals.
