Life is hitting you hard right now and maybe you're stuck, feel alone, struggle completing tasks, struggle with the way your mind works, or just maybe you feel like there's not much meaning in your life. My name is Michael Sheffield and alongside obtaining my Master's degree, I have been working as a counselor with people for 4 years. My life and training are lent towards working with people experiencing depressed mood, anxiety, overactive/judgemental minds, relationship stress, pessimism, trauma, sleep disturbance, OCD, uncontrolled anger/mood, workaholism, and chronic pain. I also work with individuals with ADHD and teenagers.
6 years ago, I sustained a spinal cord injury that completely shifted my priorities. It is my passion to talk about that which matters in life, while helping people find their truth/purpose (same thing) and to ACT on it. I think my life experience makes me uniquely qualified to help people develop motivated action and find peace through turbulent lives.
Our work will be completed through a combination of ACT therapy/coaching and existential philosophy. Through these modalities, we will work through challenges and build coping skills, while establishing and pursuing value-based goals. There are no quick fixes in mental health. An interpersonal process group can be used to accomplish many different types of relational and personal goals. By discussing our challenges, desires, fears, and worldviews with others, we are able to discover both the way we impact others and where we fit in relationships. Sharing our experience with others helps us to orient ourselves and determine the healthiest direction for life.
