Human interaction is powerful - and we often are unaware of the impact of our experiences until we speak them aloud to an understanding ear. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe, affirming space so that we can explore issues and address problems together, working from your perspective. I work with adults and adolescents who have experienced grief and bereavement, childhood trauma, anxiety and depression, chronic illness, identity-based discrimination and life transitions - as well as those who are caregivers, exploring gender and/or sexuality, or are having difficulty at work. I am an EMDR-Certified Therapist.
I am aware that, for those who have experienced systemic harm - racism, abelism, misogyny, transphobia, and homophobia for instance - seeking therapy and finding a therapeutic relationship can be especially difficult. I view you as the expert on your own experiences - and work to ensure that you feel in control of your care, and fully heard and seen.
I am openly queer, and separate from my practice as a therapist, a liberal rabbi. I know many of us with marginalized identities have been rejected or hurt by our religious/spiritual/cultural communities. I am aware of how powerful spirituality can be for our mental health, and am open to exploring spiritual practices and thought in our sessions.
