Most of my clients, both individuals and couples, come to me seeking to have their perspectives understood, so they can better understand themselves and their relationships. As this occurs, they are able to significantly improve the quality of their lives. I seek to create an atmosphere that promotes respect, understanding, responsibility, compassion, and creativity as people strive to live their lives consciously in ways that help them achieve the goals most important to them. To this end, I strive to have the utmost respect for the uniqueness of every individual and couple that I treat.
I am trained in psychoanalytically informed psychotherapy. That means that I approach my work with a lot of depth. People often call my style humanistic and collaborative. They also say that I have a very strong ability to help people face or talk about difficult issues.
Ten years ago, I became the first Certified Gottman Therapist in the Chicago area. As a Master Trainer for The Gottman Institute, I train therapists, and lead couples workshops. The Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy is a research based, down to earth approach to relationships and couple therapy.
