For parents and students alike, adolescence can be a turbulent time. Watching our children struggle can be stressful. It takes a lot of patience, understanding and adjusting to meet the needs of kids in this age group. It's not uncommon for parents to feel that they are engaging in one power struggle after the next...or perhaps feeling a sense of guilt, frustration or helplessness, as they start to question the effectiveness of their parenting and/or the overall emotional well-being of their son or daughter.
As we grow, our needs often change. Entering high school, college or transitioning into a career ushers in new challenges. As young adults strive towards independence and finding success, unexpected events can often stall that progress. My background and experience can lend that helping hand in a safe, respectful and nonjudgmental approach.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 23 years of experience working with adolescent teens, families, and young adults. I have conducted parent education classes and professional seminars on topics such as depression, bullying, teen substance abuse (including vaping), self-injury, suicidal thoughts and other school-related concerns.
