The foundation of my practice is based on the 4 principles of Empathy, Encouragement, Awareness, and Empowerment. I believe the objective of counseling is to help individuals make sense out of emotional chaos. This comes through primarily understanding two things, 1. We are products of our environment, we do what we know. 2. We all have the power to change unhealthy or unwanted behavior. My experience as a Crisis Counselor as well as an individual counselor has given me experience with just about any issue. Please let me know what you're struggling with and we can determine together if I can be supportive.

If you feel like you are struggling to reconcile experiences or find coping skills to manage mental health concerns, relationship issues, and/or addictions, you have also come to the right place. We will work together to identify the source of your discomfort and unmanageability and then identify tools to move forward. Once we have identified the problem, we can work towards a solution. I am very solution focused in my approach and enjoy working with individuals who are ready to make sustainable change.

As a clinician, I believe in meeting clients where they are, identifying their strengths and barriers, in order to assist in developing a personalized plan for treatment and life management. I do not believe in a “cookie-cutter” method, and I am very open to exploring new methods and using multiple approaches to help each client individually. I assist my clients with understanding their behavior patterns and the changes they want to make while in treatment. Being in therapy means some form of change. Change can be different from client to client because each client has unique needs.

The relationship between client and clinician is a key component of treatment efficacy. I believe that this therapeutic relationship is founded in a spirit of collaboration, an emotional bond and an agreement on goals and tasks. Two main characteristics of therapy are critical to the building of this therapeutic alliance: expertise and compassion. I am confident in my ability to help resolve any issues in a satisfying manner, prepared in both theory and practice, clear in my thoughts, ideas, and logical in the problem solving process. Of equal importance, I am accepting, understanding and genuinely interested in you and your needs.

I believe everyone has the strength within to overcome their challenges, but sometimes we just need a little extra support. That’s where I come in. My goal is to provide a safe, trustworthy space where we can work together to navigate issues, set goals, and make positive changes for a more fulfilling life. I use a mix of different techniques, mainly drawing from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solutions-focused, and cognitive behavioral theories. I understand that everyone’s journey is unique, and I respect your individual needs and perspectives..

Life can be big, daunting, and isolating. Especially in the midst of big changes, traumatic experiences, relationship breakdowns, and other troubling circumstances, you may be feeling lost and alone. Rebuilding confidence in yourself and your relationships is pivotal to freedom from overwhelm, and I want to help you build that safely. I want to help you undo that aloneness that you may feel. I want to help you feel like “you” again.

I work with individuals fifteen years of age and older to overcome issues of mood disorders, like depression and anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, behavioral addictions as well as difficult life transitions. My primary goal is to help my clients reach a point of no longer needing therapy, by getting to the root of the challenges, giving practical tools they can use every day to maintain a mentally healthy life. I am also a clinical supervisor, providing clinical supervision to Limited Licensed Professional Counselors.

Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship problems, anger issues? Negative thoughts or traumatic events, small or large, can shape the way you view yourself and those around you, which can lead to a multitude of mental health issues. These often include depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, substance abuse, relationship difficulties and other mental health problems. Everyone deserves a life worth living. Unresolved trauma or unaddressed mental health issues can prevent that from happening. I work exclusively with adult clients.

Career Counseling Therapists

How do I know if I need career counseling?

Determining whether a career counselor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counseling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counselor.

Who can benefit from career counseling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counseling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counseling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counselor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counseling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counseling typically last?

The length of career counseling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking. Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counseling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counselor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counseling?

Clients can prepare for career counseling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counselor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counselor, particularly if the career counselor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counseling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
