Waitlist for new clients
My work consists of providing a welcoming, profoundly non-judgmental atmosphere where one can experience the safety that hu man relationships may offer. I truly believe people first need the basics. We connect and flourish in therapy when provided with acceptance, respect and dignity in a non-shaming relationship. I take a holistic approach and incorporate foundational needs that are often overlooked. Sometimes the simplest solution may be most effective, while other situations may call for a deeper dive that will uncover a path to healing. Regardless, I leave the direction and pacing up to my clients to preserve autonomy.

Something needs to change, but you cannot put your finger on what that change is or how to go about making it. Life feels overwhelming and unrelenting and lacks meaning. You might be thinking, "My life is not everything I want it to be, and I want to figure out why that is." Perhaps, you wonder what makes you YOU and what that means for your work, your relationships, or personal self-growth. In therapy, we will holistically consider your story as we seek to restore balance and facilitate lasting change. You want to write new chapters in your story. Therapy can help you put pen to paper.

Having a wide range of experiences, and being a husband and father of 5 children, I can identify with many of the struggles that families face today.
My name is Bradley Stalker, and I'm glad you're here! If you've ever been in a situation where you continuously try but nothing seems to work out the way you expect, or wonder how you'll ever get ahead or out of an addiction cycle, or anxiety and depression makes life overwhelming, you came to the right spot. Have career difficulties, transition fears, don't know what fits your work skills or interests? Think that counseling is a little taboo? Maybe you're stuck in a negative pattern and just don't know how to turn it around. Just having the initial conversation can make a big difference!

I work to create an environment that feels warm and supportive for each person. The relationship between the client and therapist is a true measure on how helpful the counseling experience will be for an individual. My goal is to guide and empower clients to make important meaningful changes in their life. I primarily use the methods of strength based and person centered talk therapy to achieve these outcomes. I believe everyone has the capacity to tap into the intuitive part of them self and use that wisdom to improve their life. People do have the ability to make positive changes in their life.

First off - I know it requires a unique type of energy and vulnerability to reach out. Thank you for giving yourself permission to do that! Maybe you’re experiencing self-doubt that makes it difficult to wake up every morning. Maybe you’re having trouble shaking off intrusive thoughts that are staying rent-free inside your head. Maybe you have the impression that your concerns aren’t important enough to talk about. Perhaps other people in your life just don’t “get it”. No matter what is happening, you absolutely deserve unconditional support.

Chances are, you've been here before. The feeling that things can't change, at least not for the better. The anxiety that is interrupting your sleep or work stress that follows you home and has you sniping at your loved ones instead of enjoying your time with them. Whatever it is that you're experiencing that has you wondering, "can therapy actually help me?", you've probably been through something like it before. I have too. As a clinician with over 10 years of experience helping others, and over 20 years of experience on the client side of the table, I can answer that question with a definitive "Yes!".

I work with adults and young adults individually and in couples from all walks of life and belief systems who experience anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, personality disorders, adjustment issues, anger management, relationship issues, and more by using evidenced-based approaches and interventions/techniques.

We all experience difficulty trying to navigate obstacles and absurdities in life. Soren Kierkegaard, a philosopher, articulated it well: “Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards.” I believe therapy helps us process this difficult truth through a courageous practice of turning our focus inward and confronting the parts of ourselves that we are often intent on avoiding. It feels daunting to give attention to regrets, disappointments, or the suspicion that we are not living up to our own potential. Perhaps, the actual risk is our own realization of a need to change but feeling unsure of succeeding.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
