I engage with clients using EMDR, through a lens of somatic and attachment approaches, as well as CBT, mindfulness, and relational practices as needed for each person.
We all go through difficult times and need some objective support. I work with adults who experience anxiety, trauma, grief or other adjustments to life transitions. Clients who come to me are often seeking someone to accept them and meet them where they are; someone who will help them learn how to use their strengths to make changes in order to find peace of mind and live the life they want. The work may be hard, and uncomfortable at times, but we approach it as a team to reach their goals. I currently am able to work with two new clients during the weekdays.

I practice from a largely somatic perspective which is a fancy way of saying working with the body! I firmly believe that by knowing our body and biology more deeply, we can experience healing and gain skills for long-term resilience.
**NOW OFFERING EMDR for TEENS and ADULTS** I see clients with varying concerns; depression, anxiety, sadness, high stress, trauma, and the list goes on. For some they've been struggling for a long time, for others these struggles are new, and for others they don't know when IT started but they just know right now they aren't their best. Taking a trauma-informed and resilience-building approach, we work with the body and mind to transform hurt to healing.

It took a lot of courage for you to make it to this point. I imagine your journey has had fluctuating ups and downs, and now you’re seeking support to get through life’s challenges. Sometimes it can feel daunting to try and move forward in life when you feel stuck, whether it be due to the cards life has dealt you or even sometimes getting in your own way.

If you've been struggling with life and circumstances, you are not alone. I applaud you for seeking out help with your challenges because it means that you are brave (stepping outside of your comfort zone) and that you have made the decision to do something about your mental health (also brave). I work with many survivors of various trauma and I am trained in EMDR. If you need a good listener, somebody who is in your life to support you, somebody who is not afraid to encourage you to take control of your circumstances and mindset, and someone who can provide insight and education about mental health, I would love to meet with you!

Its your time to break free from ruminating thoughts/stagnant patterns! It is your time to enjoy life's daily pleasures, feeling grounded and present in your body. I have a passion for helping humans heal trauma, move rage and pain, and create an opening within to own their joy, pleasure and happiness; breaking free from the shackles created and placed within and around us. How long have you wanted to connect to your magic? To learn the messages your body is sharing with you, slowing down and listening deeply, cultivating self- love, grace and compassion and to see your own divinity and would like to know where to start?

You’re here because you’ve hit that point where “just getting by” isn’t cutting it anymore. Maybe it’s the anxiety that grips you every morning or the growing silence between you and your partner that’s too loud to ignore. You’ve tried to hold it together, but deep down, you know something has to change. You’re not here for a quick chat, a checklist of coping strategies, or some dull homework assignments—you’re here because you’re ready to cut through the noise and chaos to finally feel alive again, maybe for the first time. I know you have what it takes within you to find fulfillment, and I’m here to help you unlock it.

Each of us holds the power to choose the manner in which we give meaning to our life circumstances and experiences. Earlier automatic and unconscious patterns often get in the way of moving forward in an empowering and liberating way. Identifying these patterns, learning the practice of self-reflection and gaining self-awareness is the foundation of personal growth and transformation. In addition, focusing on the present moment, the practice of mindfulness, learning to trust the inner voice and emotional responsiveness leads each client to a more conscious place of being. Moving forward with conscious choice and courage is the key.

I know that the process of beginning or continuing therapy can feel confusing. It's important to me to support and empower clients through this process by providing clear information on the work we do in session. Together, we explore what supports them best in the therapy space. I see therapy as an opportunity for co-creating a map to help clients clearly navigate their thinking and behaving patterns, and those of others. As a team, we work on cultivating a safer mental space for one to thrive.

I support pre-teens, adolescents, families, and young adults who are experiencing challenges in many areas of their lives related to trauma, suicide, self-harm, relationships, anger, anxiety, depression, communication and more. When we experience adversity, whereas for something we are currently living or remnants from the past, we might express that distress and discomfort in ways we might not understand. Hence, this could lead us to feel disconnected from ourselves, others, and the present.

We are a practice that focuses on walking alongside men toward healing and becoming comprehensive in who they are. Our guess is that you’ve been thinking for some time about changing things, or perhaps everything has come to light very recently. What you do know is that something has to change, even if you don’t know what that “something” is just yet.

I am very passionate about the work I do and believe that when placing yourself in a vulnerable position you want to know that you will experience feelings of felt safety. Together, we explore parts of the self that have successfully protected you, while also blocking you from reaching your full potential. Sometimes those very parts that limit us, decide to show up in the most inconvenient and untimely manner, reflecting back what you aren't necessarily ready to see. I work with you to help make sense of your internal blocks and struggles with intention.

When you’re experiencing ongoing stress and exhaustion, your body starts to say “hey, take care of me” in many subtle ways. Oftentimes, we worry taking care of ourselves would be a loss of connection elsewhere. The truth is, repressed trauma, anxiety, depression, and/or other emotions can build tension within your life. In my practice, I help you process your current experiences and find the tools to support your mental health. As a trauma-aware therapist, I am confident to work alongside your journey! We will focus on a healing-perspective and keep your hopes for what you would like to achieve as our goal.

I am trained in body-based, or mind/body, psychotherapy. I don't work with any one piece of a person, single incident, or symptom of a diagnosis. I see the whole person, within the context of their past and present life, and target the root cause of the "dis-ease" they are experiencing. I believe therapy is not only about feeling better, but finding choice, control, and a grounded sense of your Self. You are more than any diagnosis, you are a person who moves through life in your own unique way. I tailor therapy to meet your individual needs and sense of Self. You don't have to figure out what you need alone.

You are feeling overwhelmed, stuck in the past, & uncertain about the future. Maybe you’ve experienced a traumatic event, or you find yourself in cycles, no matter how hard you try to break them. You feel flooded with emotion, triggered by your surroundings, & exhausted from fighting through each day. As much as you try to push away upsetting thoughts & memories, they continue to creep back into your awareness. It seems like worry is following you like a shadow, spilling over into your relationships, your professional life, & even your overall health. This leaves you feeling alone as you put on a happy face for the world around you.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
