Her goal is to foster emotional well-being for herself and others in her life, driven by a desire for stability and peace. She yearns for tailored strategies to manage anxiety and trauma, and to cultivate self-compassion and confidence.

As I think about how change occurs for a person, I am struck by the recognition that life is full of opportunities for change, for individual growth. Sometimes these opportunities are not clear to the person because the trauma, personal or relational difficulty, fear, depression, or anxiety being experienced can be so overwhelming that one's ability to take action is clouded. In my work, I have become very mindful of the resiliency of the human spirit. I have witnessed this resiliency in times of trauma, pain, and loss. My goal is to provide you with a safe space to address your concerns.

Life is hard and at times it can feel overwhelming and difficult to find answers. Therapy should be a non-judgmental space to explore challenges and possibilities and also to work on healing hurts, setting goals, and moving from a place of merely surviving to a place of independently thriving.

I have found strong connection with mothers/fathers in postpartum, caregivers of young and old, women/hormone health, survivors of trauma, those grappling with chronic illness, loss of a loved one, career change, or loss of self-identity.
You are so very warmly welcomed into this space. Let's take a moment to recognize the time and effort you are already giving toward your health: by acknowledging the greater part of you that is asking for change and then taking the step forward in finding support to help you navigate what comes next. This is so hard. Time, circumstance, information overload, perhaps previous negative healthcare experiences, the human tendency to lean away from the unknown, all serve as reasons to stay in our old patterns. However, in having made it this far, the work toward healing has already begun for you. You have already started.

Counseling provides a safe place for healing to occur. Children, teens and adults benefit from a private spot to sort out conflicting feelings, difficult life circumstances and relationship problems. Learning new ways of facing dilemmas present in everyday life produces energy. During therapy, many of my clients begin to experience an inner calm, increased self confidence and/or a clearer sense of self-concept, which in turn leads to a deeper sense of well being.

Sometimes we all need a little help in life. Are you in need of someone who will listen objectively and pay attention to when you are talking without just nodding in all the "right places?" Then I may be the therapist you are looking for! Life often throws unexpected curves at us in the form of grief, divorce, or job displacement to name just a few examples. Emotions can often overtake our sense of well-being. We may find ourselves in need of extra support and encouragement and someone who will lend a listening ear and engage with us in counseling. Together we can help get to the root of your problem by creating a plan to help you.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
