I am passionate about helping individuals who struggle with a wide range of concerns, such as anxiety, social anxiety, depression, relationship/interpersonal conflicts, adjustment-related stress, family conflict/concerns, multicultural issues, behavioral difficulties, ADHD and executive functioning coaching, as well as other general life challenges.

Gaining control over body weight brings on new possibilities, yet can also bring on a new set of unexpected realities. People who knew us as overweight may distance themselves or show signs of disapproval. We may not believe in our ability to have a fulfilling career, be a good parent or romantic partner. We progress toward our goals and feel good at first, yet we may return to former habits, and run up against a set of obsolete internal beliefs about what we capable of doing. This limits us. We want to live fully, yet these thoughts keep us from achieving our goals.

Welcome. As a clinician, it is an honor to walk beside you in your journey. I specialize in postpartum mood disorders (such as anxiety or depression), birth trauma, and recovering from spiritual abuse (such as leaving high demand religions or cults), and eating disorders. I am specifically trained in EMDR for trauma reprocessing and healing.

Early childhood is a dynamic and transitional time that can feel simultaneously joyous and chaotic (for both the child and the parent!). Children sometimes experience a myriad of big feelings that feel difficult to cope with - here at Rise, we aim to provide support, skills, and resources to help you and your child navigate the challenges. We have three new-to-us therapists who are accepting new clients in January. We recognize the shortage of mental health professionals for young children and parents and are so happy to fill the gap!

I have over eighteen years experience working with adolescent and adults with a wide range of mental health and substance abuse disorders. I use an empathic, strengths based approach to address issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and relationship and career changes. I have worked with a variety of clients with co-occuring mental health and substance abuse disorders. I enjoy working with clients through life transitions, such as college, graduate school, career changes, parenting, and mid-life issues. I tend to utilize person centered therapy techniques, CBT, and ACT techniques.

PTS has a commitment to providing culturally responsive services and strives to provide the upmost ethical practices. As adults, we also face painful stressors-- divorce, for example, losses, aging. We can become stuck, overwhelmed, and confused. In my work with adolescents and adults, I offer an engaged, intensive approach that will allow us to understand how longstanding dysfunctional patterns and beliefs affect your daily life. Specialized training and decades of experience have taught me that the better we understand ourselves, the better we can handle challenges and implement adaptive solutions.

Deciding to call a therapist and seek help can be difficult. I work with clients to establish a strong working relationship. Together, we can work to identify obstacles that block you from reaching your potential in different areas of your life. My style balances insight-oriented talk-therapy with common sense -- and some humor when possible.

The focus of my practice is children, families and young adults. I have particular focus on working with ADHD, Learning Disabilities, behavioral problems, academic concerns, and developmental issues. I provide counseling and psychological testing; including ADHD and Learning Disability evaluations. I received pre-doctoral training in psychological testing at The University of Memphis and completed a two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Michigan in diagnosing and treating Learning Disabilities.

Perhaps there is no more healing, sustaining and enriching experience in life than one given by the opportunity to understand oneself and others. Psychotherapy is uniquely suited to provide this experience. It's a place where difficulties can be explored both safely and meaningfully. One's problems might emerge during a personal crisis; or perhaps, one's problems have become clear only over time. In either case, a successful psychotherapy can bring vitality, better connections to others and success in achieving one's life goals.

I have had the privilege to assist clients with anxiety, depression and general mental health concerns as well as compulsive sexual behaviors, chemical and process/ behavioral addictions in a variety of settings including addiction treatment services with Dawn Farm's community of programs.

An important aspect of any therapeutic relationship is the rapport and ease you have in discussing your issues and concerns with your therapist. I believe the right fit between the client and therapist is in large part a function of the flexibility in approach and ways of intervening with you as an individual client. I see the therapeutic relationship as being a collaborative partnership that is outcome focused in addressing your issues and concerns. The emphasis is on doing what is most effective in moving you toward your desired outcomes in the least amount of time possible.

I can help you with specific problems in your life, but I also want you to feel more satisfied and engaged overall in your work and relationships, and more comfortable in your own skin. We can work together on what gets in the way of leading the more vital, connected, and productive life you want.
