I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), a proven therapeutic technique that effectively addresses anxiety and emotional dysregulation.
My ideal client is someone who has faced challenges of domestic violence, relational trauma, childhood trauma, birth trauma, or others struggles associated with experiences that are now causing dysregulation and symptoms. My ideal client is someone who seeks a safe space to process their experiences and develop coping strategies that empower them and create space to reclaim strength, rebuilt sense of self, and create healthy relationships. I also appreciate clients who have symptoms, but have not yet been able to identify the cause, that are interested in exploration and discovery of the "why".

Also, I've been trained in EMDR and DBT to assist with trauma and have a dual degree in Infant Mental Health.
Everyone has their own unique identity and experiences. As a therapist, my focus is to embrace these differences by working collaboratively with each client to create a personalized plan that will meet them where they’re at in life, best fit their needs, and be comfortable enough to help them learn, grow, and think in a healthy way. My clinical work is devoted to consistently being present for my clients by walking with them through this journey of healing while creating a non-judgmental, therapeutic space for them to be heard, understood, and supported while making behavioral and cognitive changes to enhance their quality of life.

I am Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) trained, and Brain Spotting trained.
A life that is trauma, or drama-free is often based in fairy tales. Let's face it happily ever after does not provide details of "who", "what" and "how" happy is defined. Real people have real problems...relationship issues, financial issues, employment issues, depression, substance abuse, anxiety, stress, and grief are just a few of the problems we deal with regularly. Healthy coping skills are necessary tools to help people master life's issues and maintain their health mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Whether you need help in developing coping skills, boundaries, or ending codependency help is available.

I am trained in EMDR.
"Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves" - Henry David Thoreau. When you are feeling uncertain, overwhelmed, and exhausted, it is so important to connect with someone compassionate who really empathizes and genuinely cares. The goal of therapy is to provide a safe space and a non-judgmental ear to explore sources of conflict and develop solutions together.

Life's hurdles are unexpected and frustrating to deal with in a society that expects we shoulder them without flinching. The past 2 years has not helped most in regards to relationships and how we view ourselves. Maybe you know what you need to do to get past your self-view, a toxic relationship, a past trauma. Maybe you are unsure at this point - either way - keeping your thoughts in isolation only breeds discontent, which can trickle into every facet of our lives until we cannot remember what our "best-self" looked like. I would be happy and privileged to be a blank canvas for you to spill out your frustration, grief, and joy.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
