I specialize in women’s issues, focusing on anxiety, depression, stress, family issues, perinatal and postpartum, perimenopause and menopause, life transitions, and parenting difficulties.
We will all go through times in our lives where we may need some extra support. My goal as a therapist is to provide you with a safe, relaxed, non-judgmental, caring environment, where we can work together to achieve your goals. I believe that everyone has their own set of strengths, and we will use a variety of creative interventions which will allow you to feel empowered and take control over your path to success. Together, we can find practical and realistic solutions to address your identified areas of need. I offer individual, parent/caregiver, and family therapy in a LGBTQ+ open and affirming practice.

You are successful in many areas of life, but you feel like you're living behind a mask. The family and friends mask makes you look happy and carefree, while the work mask hides your insecurities and makes you look confident. You don't know why you feel like an imposter in your own life but you've been juggling masks for so long, it's just automatic now. Are you ready to heal from past wounds and learn how to embrace who you are, instead of who you thought you had to be in order to please others and protect yourself? I'll provide a safe place to discover, heal, and get excited about who you are, no masks required.

Do you feel as if your life is unmanageable? Are you struggling to manage your life as is? It’s no secret that life doesn’t fight fair. At times, it can seem that nothing goes the way we really want it to, no matter how well we plan. Fortunately, we were built to adapt and recover quickly. It is our own resilience that dictates what happens next and not life’s quirkiness or unpredictability. I collaborate with adults 18 and older to successfully manage life using healthy responses and sustainable coping skills. I have assisted individuals with addictions, complex-trauma, and personality disorders for 5+ years.

As a therapist, I believe that change happens in therapy when there is an authentic relationship that yields a safe place for people to explore and address their feelings in a non-judgmental and comfortable way. I feel I am gifted in building true connections through empathy. In my practice, I meet people where they are in life & work to ensure that client's feel valued and empowered in the therapy process. Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
